This Native Shipibo art is created individually and by hand by the artists of the indigenous Shipibo tribe in the Region of Pucallpa in the Amazon Jungle of Peru. The depictions of the art are traditional images handed down by generations that depict the energetic structure at the base of reality during the states of consciousness brought about by the indigenous and sacramental use of the psychoac
tive Ayahuasca brew. This shamanic brew contains the psychedelic alkaloid N-N Di-Methyl Tryptamine (DMT) as well as beta-carbolines including Harmine and Harmoline and entices a profound hallucinogetic effect that last generally for around 4 hours, more or less depending on dosage. In this profound alternate state of consciousness the participants view of reality is of the 3-dimensional world we inhabit is significantly enhanced with the additional of light energy and hyper-vibrational perception awareness. This experience is then encapsulated by the singing of a song that embodies the journey and the experience and then that song and sensation are then made into embroidered art so that the experience can be reproduced by fellow Ayahuasca explorers. This means that the art that you are seeing not only has a physical history but is a sacred living piece of art and a visual key to a timeless song that will span generations and resonate into the future just as it has been resonating from the past and kept alive by this tradition of these native Peruvian “Artesenias”
Now, most of the Shipibo people live below the poverty line like many of the other inhabitants of Peru. Your purchase is going directly back to the artist and their family to assist in their struggle to keep their dying culture alive through the continuation of their ancestral art and psychedelic shamanic culture. We feel a privilege and responsibility to work with and support these Native artists in their journey to artistic expression, and are happy to be working with such exotic, beautiful and profound art from the Peruvian Amazon. The particular pieces of art that you are looking at today were created by the family of Ana Cecilia Rojas Soria. She will share with us some more information on her family, her tribe, and her art in her own words. We can also make arrangements to meet Ana and her family in Peru and if interested. We can also connect you with more information about the Ayahuasca brew and some contemporary Ceremony facilitators in Peru that could facilitate your own Ayahuasca ceremonies to better understand yourself, the true nature of reality, and expanded states of conscious awareness referred to by the late great Terence Mckenna as the “Vegetable Gnosis”
