•Transition to Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE)

The Philippine Agricultural Engineering Law (RA 8559 of 1998) originally regulated Agricultural Engineering.

Later, the Philippine Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Act of 2016 (RA 10915) officially renamed the profession to Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE).

This was done to align with international trends and broaden the scope of the profession.

In the past, the AGRICULTURAL AND BIOSYSTEMS ENGINEERING (ABE) was known simply as Agricultural Engineering (AE).

Agricultural Engineers traditionally focused on farm machinery, irrigation, soil and water conservation, post-harvest facilities, and structures.

But as agriculture evolved, it became clear that engineering should also address biological systems such as plants, animals, microorganisms, and even environmental systems that interact with agriculture.
