I never understood why the phrase “para kang babae” was used as a derogative term, signifying weakness or sensitivity. Is it not the women who bear the pains of giving life to a soul in the comfort of her womb? Is it not the women who speaks power, strength, and hope in the gentleness of her voice? Is it not the women who endured the many years of oppression in the greatness of her fortitude?

The stories shared by the talented women in the series redefines the meaning of this statement’s narrative while challenging the notion pressed on women, and for that I am eternally committed to the perpetuation of this advocacy.

Acknowledgements
I’d like to thank the beautiful people behind the series: to my partner org The Initiative PH - Department of Women Empowerment who have worked patiently alongside me regardless of my lapses, to my ambassadors who have helped publicize the series, to my luv who helped w the captions and pushed me to persevere!!! To business coach who helped me ralph laurenify my feed hehe, to my Grandpa Architect Manny Villalon for his words of encouragement, to my mom and mamala who went through the torchers of my all nighter edits (had the scoring on loop in the room lmaow ily mama), to tito who lent me the equipment, to tita Angelica Amante who stood alongside me from the very start and gave me a platform to express my crazy ideas, to my co-director/bestie/f1 rival/taga buhat ng buhay ko Francesca Manalo who has undeniably sacrificed so much time and effort in spite of her busy schedule to make this series as it is, to the viewers who’ve sent the nicest messages that made me rethink my worth as a small creator, and, most importantly, to the Lord who empowered and motivated me to search for what it truly means to be an empowered woman.

Till next time

“Women.”

In just a span of 5 letters and 1 word, endless definitions proceed forth. More often than not, oppressive remarks take place (e.g. “weak,”). Beyond these, however, we are so much more. Entering into the mini series was one question that I myself find hard to answer, “what is women empowerment?” Here, I dedicated this platform not solely to feature women for their gender role as “women,” but more so, because of their character. “Women,” the way I see it, defines the talented, the dedicated, the beautiful, the brave, and most importantly, the unlimited.

In commemoration of women’s month, I hope to bring forth the essence of women empowerment, as collectively defined by the interviewed women. Women empowerment, at its core, is not a matter of providing women power, nor is it the process of holding oneself superior over the other, but rather, it is the heartfelt process of unleashing to the world the limitless beauty each woman holds within themselves granted by the Creator — Jesus, for we are already strong. We only need the world to see our strength.

Elle and Fran

“I don’t see sensitivity as a weakness because there are many situations where applying that kind of sensitivty, which is inherent in a woman, will yield better results.” - Mikee Cojuanco-Jaworski

Episode 8 - The Penultimate Episode.

Women empowerment stems from a collective effort. As women, we must dedicate our lives to the pursuit of empowering each other. Since all of us are responsible for a purpose greater than ourselves, it is only right to allow and support others in reaching their full potential. This can be attained through creating safe spaces for one another, and radiating a positive light wherever we go.

“You’re just a woman.”

Yes, we are women; however, we are not JUST women. We can take charge. We are competent leaders. We are PHENOMENAL.

“I’m gonna do my job the way women do. I’m not gonna try to be a man, because I’m not a man. I’m just gonna be me” — Mrs. Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski

Diving into a heartfelt and soulful narrative, remarkably brings to life the essence of what it entails to be a woman, particularly in the equestrian realm. An inspiring and reimagined take on fully embracing one’s identity as a woman in order to construct the best possible version of herself. Mikee stands not as a woman with the goal to take the position of a man, but as a woman with the goal to simply be herself.
