After completing their colorful Basic Suksok outputs, our 25 Batch 1 artisan-trainees are taking their skills a step further as they begin ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ง๐๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ค๐ฌ๐จ๐ค ๐๐๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ under the ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐-๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ (๐๐๐๐) ๐๐ฉ๐ฌ๐ค๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฆ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ฆ ๐๐๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ ๐๐.
This week, the trainees progress from their basic 3โ5 pueot counts to more intricate 5โ10-count Suksok patterns, requiring greater accuracy, patience, and control at the loom.
The module begins with pattern study and lecture, followed by the actual installation and set-up of the Suksok pattern on the loom. Through trainer demonstration and guided practice, the trainees learn how to prepare and organize the required threads, establish the correct counts and sequence, use the pick-up sticks, and carefully set the pattern before weaving begins.
With the set-up completed, the trainees move into actual weavingโfollowing each count and repeat while maintaining proper spacing, alignment, tension, and the quality of the Piรฑa fabric. As the patterns become more detailed, every step becomes increasingly important: count, pick up, insert, weave, check, and repeat.
Advanced Suksok challenges our trainees not only to create more intricate designs, but also to understand how a complex pattern is built and controlled from its preparation and installation to its final expression on the woven cloth.
