How much did MASZU make on its first pop-up?

One sale. That’s it.

Our first-ever pop-up was supposed to be a 2-day bazaar, but we only showed up on Day 1… and didn’t come back for Day 2.

Because we felt embarrassed. And honestly, discouraged.

I joined the pop-up pretty last minute because the table fee was cheaper. I thought it would be a good opportunity to put MASZU out there and finally experience something I’ve always wanted to try.

Because truthfully, this was a dream of mine. Even if I’m too introverted to even smile at people passing by.

So… did I regret it? No.

But I also won’t pretend it went well. (I honestly cried!! And am not embarrassed to share this 😀)

Also, we showed up with only 46 products, hoping they’d sell because they were cute and we believed in them. But looking back, there wasn’t much strategy behind it—just hope.

And hope alone doesn’t sell.

Another thing we noticed during the event was food stalls were packed. Like consistently.

People were buying drinks, snacks, meals… while most non-food booths (including ours) barely had foot traffic.

And honestly, it makes sense.

Given the current economy, people are more careful with how they spend. If they’re already out, they’ll likely spend on something they need or can consume right away like food rather than physical items like accessories, which feel less urgent.

That shift in behavior is something we didn’t consider at all.

Will we try popping up again?
Yes. But not anytime soon.

Maybe when we’re more established. Maybe when we have more products. Maybe when we’re actually ready.

This experience humbled me a lot.

But it also made things clearer.

MASZU isn’t a failure. We just started earlier than we should have in this space.

We’ll be back, just better prepared next time. ✨🫶🏻
