What actually separates a business that lasts 5 years from one that folds in year one?
Rarely the idea. Usually whether the owner always knew their real cash position, or found out too late.
Here is the thing most people get wrong: profit and cash are not the same thing.
You can be profitable on paper and still not be able to pay your suppliers this Friday. It happens all the time. A client owes you ₱50,000 but pays 60 days late. Your expenses don't wait 60 days. That gap, between what you earned and what you actually have, is where businesses quietly die.
The businesses that survive are not always the ones with the best product or the biggest market. They are the ones where the owner wakes up every morning knowing exactly:
✅ How much cash is actually available right now
✅ Who still owes them money and how overdue it is
✅ Whether next month looks safe or dangerous, before it arrives
Cash flow visibility is not a luxury feature. It is survival.
If you are running your business without a clear system for this, you are making decisions blind and hoping the numbers work out. Sometimes they do. Sometimes they do not, and by the time you find out, it is already too late to fix it.
Start by tracking every inflow and outflow weekly, not monthly. One week of visibility is worth more than a perfect report at the end of the month you no longer have.
