FUN FACT:
The year-end bonus is one of the most anticipated benefits for government employees in the Philippines. It serves as a reward for their hard work and dedication throughout the year, especially for those who have rendered at least four months of service from January to October. According to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the year-end bonus is equivalent to one month’s basic salary, along with a ₱5,000 cash gift. This is usually released around mid-November, just in time for the Christmas season. The bonus not only provides financial relief but also boosts morale among public servants, reminding them that their efforts in serving the nation are valued and appreciated. Indeed, the year-end bonus is more than just an incentive—it is a symbol of recognition, gratitude, and hope for every government worker.
Aaaannnndddd receiving a bonus is always exciting, especially after months of hard work. But aside from treating ourselves or buying gifts, it’s also wise to set aside a portion for savings.
