Athletic energy, precision, and movement took on a new identity on the runway as student designers from the Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Fashion Design of La Consolacion College Bacolod unveiled “Alta Costura: Structura — The Discipline of Form,” a fashion showcase that reimagined sports through the lens of high fashion.
The showcase featured the creative work of 15 student artists from across the program, including four first-year students, nine second-year students, and two third-year students. Guided by the theme of sports interpreted in couture design, students translated concepts of discipline, motion, strength, and athletic form into garments marked by bold silhouettes, innovative construction, and artistic detail.
The exhibit reflected varying levels of design maturity across the year levels. First- and second-year students each presented one original creation, while the third-year designers showcased three garments each, highlighting more advanced collection development, technical ex*****on, and conceptual storytelling.
Over the course of two months, the students conceptualized, designed, and constructed their pieces under the mentorship of fashion instructor John Rondain Catubigan, who challenged them to look beyond the functionality of sportswear and explore how athleticism could inspire couture craftsmanship.
“This project pushed our students to study movement, body architecture, and the spirit of competition, then reinterpret those ideas into wearable art,” Catubigan said. “The result is a collection that celebrates both discipline and creativity.”
La Consolacion College Bacolod President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, praised the student designers for their artistic courage and commitment to excellence.
“Our young artists have shown that fashion is not simply about clothing—it is about vision, discipline, and the ability to transform everyday inspiration into meaningful artistic expression,” Sr. Flolyn said. “This showcase reflects the creative spirit of LCCB and our commitment to forming artists who can innovate, inspire, and make an impact in the world of design.”
College officials said “Alta Coftura” represents the continuing growth of LCCB’s fashion design program, where students are encouraged to merge technical mastery with bold creative exploration, preparing them for the evolving landscape of the fashion industry.
