A short convo with our practical and business minded Kuya and a reminder to myself:

Kuya: Ma, where did you put the bigger electric fan?

Me: Sa bodega, why?

Kuya: Can we sell it?

Me: Huh? Why man ui? Kasab-an tang Papa.

Kuya: Nah, we are not using it anymore. Ma stuck ra to sa bodega and basin maguba. So better sell it.

Me: Haha! We can still use it pa man like if naa visitors and we need a back-up electric fan..

Kuya: We have so many electric fan naman, we can sell it para naa ta additional money...

Me: Nanghid sa tang Papa!

Kuya: Okaaaaaaayyyy!

He clearly wasn’t thinking about β€œjust in case” reasons, which we are very fond of; he was thinking about usefulness, waste, and value. If something is no longer serving a purpose, it doesn’t need to sit unused. It can be let go and turned into something helpful for others.

Not everything we keep is something we actually need, and simply asking, β€œAre we still using this?” is already a smart habit.
