Calm people don’t build empires.

Michael Bloomberg said he never liked anyone who didn’t have a temper. Sounds harsh. But I get it.

A temper doesn’t mean you’re unstable. It means you care. It means something matters to you enough to get emotional about it.

The people who stay calm about everything? They’re usually the ones who aren’t invested. Nothing is on the line for them. They have no skin in the game.

Building something real requires intensity. You have to care deeply. About your work. About your standards. About doing things right.

That kind of caring isn’t always polite. Sometimes it shows up as frustration. As impatience. As fire.

I’ve lost my cool before. Over missed deadlines. Over sloppy work. Over people not taking things seriously. I’m not proud of every moment. But I’m not ashamed of caring either.

The opposite of intensity isn’t calmness. It’s apathy. And apathy doesn’t build anything.

Passion means pushing through years of hard work when nobody notices. It means making thousands of decisions under pressure. It means staying driven when motivation disappears.

That takes energy. That takes fire.

Give me someone with a temper over someone who doesn’t care any day.

At least I know what they stand for.
