Starting to feel burned out by your diet and workout regimen? 😣 Do you feel like you are not getting the results you feel like you deserve? Are you considering quitting and starting another fad diet? Many people think that just because they are working out regularly and dieting strictly that they will get the results they want as soon as possible, but in reality this process takes long and requires high amounts of discipline, motivation and patience. Monday Motivation!!!

A story to start your week out with a bang! This is Edge, who has always been somewhat active, participating in fun runs. However, in 2013, he began grad school at the same time as working a full time job. This was when he started to gain a lot of weight as the work pressure and lack of time drained him physically and mentally. 2018 proved to be the turning point for Edge’s fitness journey as he started a new job and found a better work-life balance allowing him more time to focus on fitness. It was here when he was helped by a fellow gymrat to correct his deadlift form, prompting him to invest in himself and hire a personal trainer.

2019 proved to be the best year for Edge as it was during this time when he took his fitness to a whole different level as he was not only being guided in his workouts, but he was also keeping track of his goals and nutrition. It was when he reached his leanest of 65kg at 13% body fat when he decided to go on a bulk to gain more size which enabled him to reach 90kg in early 2020 before the pandemic. Of course just like many, the pandemic proved to be a huge obstacle as gyms were closed down and access to any form of fitness was difficult. This did not stop Edge though, as he was able to invest in a few gym equipment to help him stay on track with his goals at home. With the little equipment he had, he was able to progress and cut down to 78kg. Currently, Edge is able to find a better balance between his workouts and social life.

"In 2019, my schedule was centered around my workouts; in the present I turned fitness into a lifestyle as I now have a better relationship with my body, food, and time management”.

Edge’s story shows how determination, will and discipline can allow anyone to live a healthy lifestyle. Thank you Edge for sharing your story to Overload and we hope you continue to live life being a better version of yourself everyday. 💪

Story Time!!!

One of the more inspiring stories we ever have heard!

This is Ed and his fitness journey started way back in high school when he decided that it was time for him to make a lifestyle change. As a kid, Ed always struggled with weight gain. He was on the heavier end of the spectrum which affected him in sports and other aspects of his life. This was when Ed decided it was time to start dieting. Initially, his journey was not as smooth sailing as he resorted to the crash dieting as his method of weight loss. This clearly did not work for him as he would experience serious diet rebounds and weight fluctuations for the next few years. “I was only eating once a day and only about 1,500 calories”

It was not until 2019 when he decided that he had to shift his strategy and change the way he dieted. From here, Ed took strides in his knowledge of nutrition and training with the help of personal trainers and the internet to further deepen his knowledge to aid him in his fitness journey. This then became a serious passion for him as he even converted a part of his house into a gym in order to combat the pandemic. From here Ed employed a more flexible dieting regime by highlighting the importance of counting your macros. This allowed him to still enjoy the food he loves while losing weight at the same time. “I eat Ice cream everyday.” said Ed. When asked what advice he could give to anyone starting a diet he said “Be patient, don’t strive for results right away as quick fixes lead to bad habits. Stay disciplined and motivated and the results will slowly show.”

Yes, working out and eating right are one of the most important factors in getting the physique that you want. These aspects are seen as the building blocks of fitness and could sometimes overshadow other necessary practices like rest days.

Rest days may not seem like much, but it is the phase where your muscles take time to recover and recuperate in order to become bigger and stronger versions of themselves. Rest days may depend on how one feels, but here is a reminder to show how necessary it is to have them.
