Tips and Reminders for DepEd Teacher I Applicants 🫶🏼
📌 Complete and organize your documents. Make sure all required papers are updated, properly labeled, and arranged according to the checklist. First impressions matter—even on paper.
📘 Understand the PPST. Familiarize yourself with the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers, especially at the beginning career stage. Align your answers and experiences with these standards.
📝 Plan a learner-centered demonstration lesson for COI (Classroom Observable Indicators) Focus on clarity, classroom management, and student engagement—not perfection.
They observe if you can:
✨ Deliver a clear objective (MELC-aligned)
✨ Engage learners
✨ Ask higher-order questions
✨ Manage time
✨ Check understanding
✨ Close with assessment
📌 Don’t just perform — teach as if real learners are in front of you.
🗣️ Prepare for the NCOI (Non-Classroom Observable Indicators) Teacher Reflection Form (TRF): This replaces the interview
This measures your teaching values, decision-making, and professional mindset.
When answering:
✔️ Be honest, not scripted
✔️ Show learner-centered thinking
✔️ Emphasize inclusivity
✔️ Reflect on improvement and growth
✔️ Show responsibility and ethics
They look for:
How you respond to classroom situations
How you support struggling learners
How you handle challenges professionally
👉 Think: “What would a caring, competent, and ethical teacher do?”
🧑🏫 Highlight your strengths honestly. Whether it’s subject mastery, communication skills, or classroom strategies, present what you can truly do and your willingness to improve.
🤝 Show professionalism at all times. Be punctual, respectful, and courteous—from submission of documents to the interview proper. Your attitude is part of your rating.
🧠 Accept feedback gracefully. Constructive feedback is part of the process. Use it as motivation to grow, not as discouragement.
⏳ Be patient and persistent. The ranking process takes time. Not being selected does not define your capability or your future as a teacher.
❤️ Remember your purpose. Teaching in DepEd is public service. Let your passion for learners and commitment to education guide you.
✨ Trust God, trust the process, and trust yourself.
What is meant for you will not miss you.
Good luck, future DepEd teachers! 🍎📚
