With reference to Joint Memorandum Circular No. 20-04-A, Series of 2020 released by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), as part of the minimum public health standards, wearing of face masks and face shields are now mandatory.
As per the memorandum signed last August 15, 2020, face masks with vents are prohibited while cloth masks may be used as long as they are clean and washed daily. On the other hand, face shields shall cover the entire face and if possible, extend to the ears and below the chin. Thus, visor-type face shields shall not be allowed. Moreover, face masks and face shields should also be worn together.
The wearing of face masks and face shields are to be supplemented with other minimum public health standards inclusive of physical distancing, constant disinfection and sanitation, provision of adequate ventilation, advocacy awareness raising programs, contact reduction and contact tracing, and case management.
