Does anyone question what's happening in our politics nowadays? Is "evolution" really the right term to describe these changes?
"Think and vote wisely," they say. But some voters choose politicians simply because they were once famous actors or wealthy businessmen.
The question is: as these individuals retire from their careers, why do they suddenly enter politics?
Imagine if Vilma Santos-Recto and her sons won the electionβthey could nearly control Batangas as they please, especially when it comes to budget and policy.
The scary part is, it's not just actors and businessmen filing for candidacy. The list keeps growing, with social media influencers like Rosemarie "Rosmar" Tan Pamulaklakin also entering the scene.
But amid all this, the most important question we should ask ourselves as voters is: What will they do for change? How exceptional are they as candidates?
Politics is meant to serve as a voice for those in need and those who suffer in silence. Now, how will these individuals help? What change will they bring?
Or will they be just like the previous onesβthose who entered politics only to make money and engage in corruption, treating politics as their personal business? While the country suffers, they live comfortably.
Are they one of those?
We must open our eyes and set our own standards to choose the right candidateβsomeone who will truly serve us and help lift us from our struggles. Someone who is honest, transparent, reliable, and accountable, whose heart is genuinely in helping, not stealing.
Choosing our leaders is the key to achieving the change we dream of for our country. If we aim for that change, then we must choose wisely. Otherwise, everything will continue in the same cycle, and the pyramid will remain sturdy for more years to come.
