Tourism should be built on respect, not entitlement. No matter where you come from, when you visit a place like Siargao, respect the locals, the culture, the community, and the island that welcomes you. Paradise is not an excuse for bad behavior.

Siargao belongs first to the people who call it home.

I was out beach camping, struggling to pitch my canopy tent on my own, when a few campers nearby noticed and jumped in to help with no hesitation. We ended up chatting about mountaineering, sports, and all the random stuff that comes up when you’re under the same sky.

What started as a quick favor turned into one of those unexpectedly great evenings. It’s funny how you can connect with people you’ve just met and feel like you’ve known them for years.

Just a short moment in time, but one that sticks with you.

You don’t have to be ahead; you just have to keep going.

It’s easy to feel behind when everyone else seems to be winning. But your life isn’t meant to follow their timeline.

Stay present. Stay on your path. Your moment will come at the right time for you.

While it’s not a cure or guarantee, spending time in nature can be a simple and refreshing way to support your body’s natural defenses and well-being.

Spending time camping in the forest for a few days may help support your immune system. Research suggests that being in natural environments can increase the activity of natural killer (NK) cells—immune cells that play a role in fighting infections and abnormal cells.

This effect is often linked to “forest bathing,” where exposure to fresh air and plant-released compounds (called phytoncides) helps reduce stress and support immune function. Lower stress levels also contribute to better overall health.

While it’s not a cure or guarantee, spending time in nature can be a simple and refreshing way to support your body’s natural defenses and well-being.

From Screens to Silence. Why Stepping Outside Hit Different?

I’d always skip hiking invites. Sweating in the sun, getting bitten by bugs, and walking for hours didn’t sound fun when I could just watch Netflix and chill at home.

Then a friend invited me to try it just once. The hike started exactly how I expected, tiring and uncomfortable. But somewhere along the way, things changed. The noise faded, the air felt lighter, and for the first time in a while, I felt a sense of calm.

When we reached the top, it wasn’t even about the view. It was how I felt, tired, but alive. That’s when it hit me how much time I spend stuck in routines and screens.

Turns out, the outdoors isn’t a waste of time at all. Sometimes, stepping outside is exactly what you need.

The Vanishing Campers: Why Some Quit and Why We Stay?

Fancy gears, aesthetic setups, fairy lights and all the hype.

Camping isn't just about sunsets, chill-moments at feeling Instagram-worthy.

Camping teaches you resilience.

Camping also teaches resourcefulness. Yung small personal achievements like starting a fire with stones, tumambay sa hamok ng walang cefon at wifi, magluto kahit hindi branded ang cookset, o mag-trekking kahit walang GPS watch. Sa mundo na lahat pwedeng i-order na lang, camping lets you slow down, think, and make do with what you have.

At syempre, patience at perseverance.

Camping isn’t just about escaping the busy life, it’s about learning to live fully, even in the hardest parts. Ikaw ba, ano ang dahilan kung bakit camping is for you?

When we step away from the comforts of home, we are forced to face discomfort head-on. Whether it’s battling unpredictable weather, setting up camp after a long drive, or navigating unfamiliar terrain, these challenges become opportunities to grow stronger, more resourceful, and more self-reliant.

In the great outdoors, you learn to adapt. You figure out how to manage with what you have, how to stay calm in the face of a storm, and how to find your way even when the path ahead is unclear. These skills don't just stay in the forest—they shape how we handle life's curveballs. Every challenge faced on a camping trip is a building block for resilience, teaching you that no matter how difficult a situation gets, you have the strength to overcome it.

Camping teaches you the importance of patience. Whether it's waiting for the rain to stop, or tending to a stubborn campfire, nature doesn’t rush. You learn to embrace the pace of things, letting go of the need for instant results. This patience becomes a powerful tool in facing the stresses and demands of everyday life, reminding us that sometimes, good things come to those who wait—and that includes personal growth.

So, next time you pack your bags and head into the wild, remember that each challenge you conquer is another step toward becoming more resilient. The wilderness doesn’t just test your limits—it shows you just how much strength you have inside.

Here’s to the wild adventures that shape us into stronger versions of ourselves.

𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙩𝙧𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛.

It sneaks up on you quietly, like one morning you're sipping coffee, wearing that old camping jacket, and suddenly, you feel complete in a way you never expected.

When we were younger, it always felt like we had to put on a show. Chasing attention, approval, applause. We went after titles, likes, compliments, and even love that was only given under certain conditions. We wanted people to notice us, to find us impressive—to call us driven, talented, successful, or attractive.

And maybe we were somebody, for a while.

But the real surprise is this: true peace didn't come from applause; it came in the silence after we stopped trying so hard.

𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣.

You start doing things simply because they make you happy, not because they look good online. You read books to enjoy them, not to seem smarter. You take walks without posting the view, cook meals for comfort rather than aesthetics, and wear clothes because they're comfy, not because they're impressive. You work hard not for admiration, but to build a life that genuinely feels like yours.

This kind of freedom isn't flashy or headline-worthy, but it changes everything.

𝙄𝙩'𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙚.

Maybe this is what growing up truly means—not just bills, taxes, and routines, but quietly letting go of needing to prove yourself.

You’ve already done enough. You've survived tough times. You've changed, you've grown and you've tried your best.
