Although Davao City Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte was unable to personally attend the ceremony, he paid tribute to the late DAVRAA basketball athlete Rene Clert "Bobet" Baterbonia through a message read by his representative during Araw ng Parangal 2026 held in Davao City on July 15.
In his message, Mayor Baste said that Bobet's achievements brought immense pride not only to his school and hometown but also to the City of Davao and the entire Davao Region.
He added that, beyond his accomplishments as an athlete, Bobet would always be remembered for his kindness, humility, and unwavering love for his family. Bobet's legacy will continue to inspire future generations of young athletes.
