‘SINCE I HAVE NO SALARY, I’LL EAT AND SLEEP IN A CARDBOARD BOX’: BARZAGA ON 60-DAY SUSPENSION

CAVITE 4th District Rep. Kiko Barzaga joked that he might not be able to pay rent or buy food after the House of Representatives suspended him for 60 days without pay.

“And since I don’t have a salary, I no longer have money, so I have to eat cup noodles every day now,” Barzaga said during a TV interview.

“Since I have no salary, I won’t be able to pay rent, so I’ll be in a cardboard box outside my house… I’ll eat and sleep there,” he added.

Suspended Cavite 4th District Rep. Kiko Barzaga claimed the House cut off his microphone because he mentioned President Bongbong Marcos while defending himself ahead of a recommended 60-day suspension.

In an interview on One News’ The Big Story, Barzaga said lawmakers got scared when he pointed to Marcos as allegedly most responsible for the country's flood control issues.

He added that the complaint against him was filed in retaliation for his criticism of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez over the same scandal, which he insisted was “primarily made by President Marcos.”
