Thank you for choosing us maam Mai Dublin ☺
Good luck and God bless po sa inyo at sa ating mga atletang Filipino saludo kami sa inyo All the best sa laban.!🙌☝🇵🇭🇵🇭
Take a look at the calm and composed backhander of Disc Golf Philippines — Ate Maryviel “Mai” Dublin.
From Boracay, Aklan, Mai is a Team Pilipinas Ultimate Frisbee athlete and the first ultimate player to compete in a disc golf tournament in the Philippines, debuting at the Philippine Open in 2022.
Mai’s skills were never in question. With years of experience as both an international and national athlete, she brings discipline, professionalism, and consistency to everything she does. Disc golf, however, gave her a new kind of excitement—very different from ultimate, from skills to rules, and something she was eager to truly learn.
Although distance and finances sometimes prevent her from joining every tournament or on-site practice, Mai never stopped finding ways to improve. She regularly reports her progress, documents her training, creates practice videos, and sends them to the association for feedback. Even from afar, she stays connected and committed.
Mai is also a strength and conditioning trainer, juggling work, ultimate frisbee, and disc golf training to support herself while continuing to grow as an athlete. Inspired by the DGAP, she sees herself representing the country in disc golf and has volunteered to help the team by offering strength and conditioning guidance to her teammates.
“Distance is never a hindrance,” Mai says. “Because we can communicate and train online.”
Despite her extensive athletic background, she humbly underwent training under the disc golf national athletes, listening to advice and applying it with discipline.
“More learning and more opportunities are better than assuming I know everything.
Disc golf is different from ultimate—from skills to rules—and I need to learn all of it.”
Mai extends her heartfelt gratitude to all the coaches and the association:
“The opportunities and learning that DGAP gave me in disc golf mean so much.”
Maraming salamat po PSC, POC, and to our NSA DGAP for believing in me, for giving me the chance to wear the jersey, wave the flag, and represent our country in the SEA Games.
To everyone out there, always remember:
Skills are just one part of being a national athlete. Attitude and love for country complete it. 🇵🇭🥏
