The town of Dauin in Negros Oriental launched its first-ever Education Fair in partnership with universities, colleges, corporations, and government agencies that attended to present their respective scholarship programs. Energy Development Corporation, a longtime advocate of the youth and the environment here in Negros, was also there to showcase their education program, SIKAT.

We Negrenses are truly grateful to have partners that genuinely care for our green island and its communities. Together, let’s continue to work toward a brighter future for our home and our youth.

Our country’s location along the Pacific Ring of Fire means that we’re prone to many natural disasters, and this is why the provincial government of Negros Occidental has taken steps to partner with the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-Phvolcs) to conduct training on the use of GeoRiskPH platforms as a hazard and risk assessment tool for local government units.

We Negrenses are grateful for our local officials looking out for our safety and best interest, especially with the effects climate change has on the country. May we continue to watch out for each other during difficult times.

A loud and proud shoutout to our fellow Negrense, Lance Gabriel Vargas, as he is set to represent the Philippines in the World Juniors Badminton Tournament in October this year and the ASEAN Tournament in November.

A grade 11 student hailing from Trinity Christian School in Bacolod City, Lance is now part of the Philippine National Badminton Team. We are incredibly proud of you and what you’ve accomplished so far.

May you continue to bring pride to our green island. Padayon, Lance!

We Negrenses are grateful to Habitat for Humanity and the local government unit of San Carlos City as they initiate efforts to build disaster-resilient homes using the Cement Bamboo Frame (CBF) technology under the Negros Occidental Impact 2025 (NOI25) Project.

Negros was hit by typhoon Odette last year, resulting in the loss of lives and property. But we have always been resilient here on our green island, and we will continue to do what we can to rebuild our homes and lives better than they were before.

Whether you’re a student doing your best at school or a professional working hard at the office, you are giving back to our economy and helping the country recover amid the pandemic.

Being a hero isn’t just about going to the battlefield. It’s about doing what you can to make every little difference. Fellow Negrenses, thank you for being the heroes our green island—and our country—needs.

Chicken inasal is delicious and satisfying, but did you know that the source of Bacolod Chicken Inasal’s authentic flavor is its marinade and basting sauce? Instead of the usual soy sauce and ketchup, the chicken is marinated in minced ginger, garlic, salt, pepper, calamansi, lemon grass, and brown sugar, with its key ingredients bringing out the signature blend of sweet and sour. While slowly being grilled, the chicken is brushed with annatto oil.

We Negrenses aren’t just known for our green island. We’re also known for our sweet-tasting chicken that now has other variations across the country!

What’s your favorite chicken inasal resto? Share it with us in the comments and !

A loud and proud shoutout to the Kanlaon Green Brigade and the local government units for their efforts to plant 300 endangered native tree species at the Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park in Bago City! We are proud of your endeavors to plant trees that help not just to regreen our island but also contribute to our country’s ongoing fight against climate change.

Through your initiatives, we hope others become inspired to do the same. Let us continue to work together for a greener Negros island!

Ilog was declared as Negros Occidental’s first capital in 1743 but was later transferred to Himamaylan. Bacolod became the province’s capital in 1849.

It’s always good to learn about our past. That way, we know how to move forward with our future. Do you agree, Negrenses?
