The UP Varsity Chess Team proudly congratulates Arena International Master (AIM) and Men’s Team Captain Cyrus Francisco for his outstanding performance in the highly competitive 1st Ace Manalang Open Rapid Chess tournament, held on February 9, 2025, at Metro Town Mall in Tarlac City.

In his path to the championship, Vladimir outperformed several titled players, securing the highest accumulated points. He achieved six consecutive victories against National Masters and International Masters before fighting hard for a draw in round seven, ultimately finishing a point ahead of the rest of the competitors.

But this is just the beginning! The UPVCT is just getting warmed up as we are ready to participate in a recently added new time control in the UAAP Chess. Stay tuned for the Blitz and Rapid Chess Tournament in the UAAP Season 87. Get ready for these thrilling and fast-paced games!

S.A.G.I.P: Social Activity Guardian and Intervention Project: Development of Mental Health Tools for Filipinos, a program funded under the Emerging Interdisciplinary Research Program (EIDR Cycle 9), is calling for participants in their study.

After 36 years, the UP Fighting Maroons are champions once again after a hard fought game in the UAAP Season 84 finals. Our athletes demonstrated resilience, honor, and excellence throughout the battle. We are proud of you, iskolars ng bayan!

After 36 years, the UP Men's Basketball Team wins the men’s basketball championship.

The Fighting Maroons defeated the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 72-69, in Game 3 of the finals at the Mall of Asia Arena tonight.

The UP Fighting Maroons defeat the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 84-83, in the last match of the elimination round earlier at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. The State U’s win ends Ateneo’s 39-game streak in the league. This means that UP will face the DLSU Green Archers in the playoffs with a twice-to-beat advantage.
