Toppers Tailoring opened its first branch in Katipunan Road in Quezon City in 1970 by Mr. It is there that he met his wife, Mer. They started their small tailoring shop with just 5 square meters of space and 5,000 pesos seed capital, just enough to buy some threads and fabrics. Mang Jun, as his customers
would always call, him is a hard-working person. He was just 19 years old when he first opened Toppers Tailoring. He, along with his wife, worked earnestly knowing that their perseverance and patience would pay off. They started working on jeans and pants. Then they progressed to making uniform sets, polo shirts, slacks, and Barong Tagalog. They also accepted alteration-while-you-wait services. On the other hand, Mer, specialized on female clothing line such as dresses, blouses, skirts, and gowns. The couple custom-made a wide range of clothes. Their customers would often go to the shop with their magazine clippings of clothing styles to copy or their own designs; and they would make a version of whatever clothing style their customers wanted. Due to the high-quality and affordability of their products, their business grew. They were able to open their second branch in Katipunan Street in Marikina City. The same services are being offered in their second branch. A few years later, the couple opened their garments factory in Marikina City. It catered to several branded clothing lines such as Colours, Freego, and Jag Jeans. They handled and managed 20 plus tailors and dressmakers. As early as the 1970's, Mang Jun ventured on making suits and coats. Because of the very affordable price of this new range of clothing, many of his customers would avail of several pairs of suits. Even celebrities and foreigners would come and visit their humble shop in Katipunan Road just to have a Toppers-branded suit. Mang Jun and his wife have also provided uniforms to several companies and schools like Miescor, Meralco, Aquamarine, Ateneo De Manila University, University of the Philippines, and Miriam College, among others. The couple served celebrities like Raymart Santiago, Yael of Spongecola, Maverick, Cheska Garcia, and many more. Now on its 50th year of service, Toppers Tailoring has endured and managed to continue making clothes for local and foreign customers. If you can style it, Toppers Tailoring can make it for you.
