MUZNA ULTRA TRAIL RUN
RULES & REGULATIONS
1. GENERAL RULES
1. All participants must be officially registered and must wear the assigned race bib throughout the race.
2. Race bibs must be clearly visible at all times and must not be altered, transferred, or exchanged.
3. Only the registered participant may run under the assigned bib number. Substitution of runners is strictly prohibited.
4. Participants must attend the required race briefing and follow all instructions given by the Race Director, race marshals, medical personnel, and event staff.
5. Participants are responsible for knowing and following the official race route, cut-off times, aid station locations, and course markings.
6. The Organizer reserves the right to modify, suspend, shorten, or cancel the race when conditions threaten the safety of participants, volunteers, staff, or the community.
⸻
2. MANDATORY GEAR
All runners must carry the required mandatory equipment for their respective race category.
Mandatory equipment may include:
* Race bib
* Fully charged mobile phone
* Hydration system / soft flasks
* Emergency food or nutrition
* Headlamp with sufficient battery
* Rain jacket / appropriate weather protection
* Whistle
* Basic personal first-aid supplies

* Other equipment specifically announced by the Organizer
Mandatory gear must be carried throughout the race and may be checked at the Start Line, Aid Stations, Checkpoints, or Finish Line.
Failure to carry mandatory equipment may result in a time penalty, withdrawal, or disqualification.
⸻
3. SELF-SUFFICIENCY / SEMI-AUTONOMY
Muzna Ultra Trail follows the principle of self-sufficiency between Aid Stations.
Every runner must be prepared to manage their own:
* Hydration
* Nutrition
* Personal equipment
* Weather protection
* Basic safety needs
Aid Stations are provided as designated support points, but runners must not depend entirely on the Organizer for their individual needs.
Participants are expected to leave each Aid Station prepared to safely reach the next one.
⸻
4. AID STATIONS & SUPPORT CREW
1. Official Aid Stations are the only designated areas where race support may be provided.
2. Support crew, family members, and friends must remain within designated Aid Station areas.
3. Support crews are not allowed to roam, follow, pace, or provide assistance to runners along the course.
4. Outside assistance from vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, or other means is strictly prohibited unless specifically authorized by the Organizer.
5. Runners may receive food, hydration, equipment, or other assistance only within the areas designated by the Organizer.
6. Any unauthorized assistance may result in a penalty or disqualification.
Muzna promotes self-sufficiency. Aid Stations are there to support the runner—not to replace the runner’s preparation.
⸻
5. COURSE & ROUTE
1. Participants must follow the official marked course.
2. Short-cutting, intentionally leaving the designated route, or bypassing checkpoints is strictly prohibited.
3. All checkpoints must be passed in the prescribed order.
4. Missing a checkpoint may result in disqualification.
5. If a participant becomes lost, they must return to the last known marked section or checkpoint and notify a race marshal when possible.
6. Participants must not remove, move, destroy, or tamper with course markings, signs, ropes, ribbons, or other race equipment.
No time adjustment will be granted for getting lost due to failure to follow the official route.
⸻
6. CUT-OFF TIMES
1. Each race category shall have an official overall cut-off time.
2. Intermediate cut-off times may be imposed at designated checkpoints or Aid Stations.
3. Runners arriving after the prescribed cut-off time may be stopped and recorded as Did Not Finish (DNF).
4. Cut-off decisions made by the Race Director or authorized race officials are final.
5. A runner who has been officially pulled from the race may not continue on the course as an official participant.
⸻
7. RUNNER SAFETY & MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
1. Participants must immediately report serious injuries, medical emergencies, or runners in distress to the nearest race marshal, Aid Station, or medical personnel.
2. Every participant has a responsibility to assist another runner who is in serious distress when reasonably able to do so.
3. Medical personnel have the authority to stop a runner from continuing when the runner’s condition presents a serious risk to their health or safety.
4. A runner who refuses a medical withdrawal may be disqualified from the event.
5. In emergency situations, the Organizer may prioritize rescue and medical intervention over race timing or individual race objectives.
No finish time is more important than a runner’s life or safety.
⸻
8. ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY — LEAVE NO TRACE
Muzna Ultra Trail is a mountain event. The trail is not ours to destroy; we are only visitors passing through it.
Participants must:
* Carry their own trash until reaching a designated disposal point.

* Never throw garbage along the trail.
* Avoid damaging vegetation, trees, waterways, and other natural features.
* Stay on the designated trail whenever possible.

3. Participants must exercise additional caution at road crossings and populated areas.
4. Failure to follow marshal instructions may result in disqualification.
⸻
12. PROHIBITED CONDUCT
The following may result in immediate disqualification:

* Cheating or any attempt to gain an unfair advantage
* Any conduct that places another participant, volunteer, staff member, or member of the public in danger
⸻
13. WITHDRAWAL / DNF
1. A runner who wishes to withdraw must inform the nearest Aid Station, checkpoint, marshal, or race official.
2. Whenever possible, runners must surrender or have their bib recorded upon withdrawal.
3. A runner must not simply leave the course without notifying the Organizer.
4. Failure to report a withdrawal may trigger unnecessary search and rescue procedures.
If you stop, tell us. Your safety is our responsibility once you are part of the race.
⸻
14. WEATHER & RACE INTERRUPTION
Mountain weather can change rapidly.
The Organizer reserves the right to:
* Alter the course
* Close sections of the course
* Increase or reduce cut-off times
* Temporarily stop the race
* Shorten the race
* Evacuate participants
* Cancel the event
Such decisions may be made before or during the race based on weather, trail conditions, natural hazards, public safety, or other circumstances beyond the Organizer’s control.
The decision of the Race Director regarding race safety shall be final.
⸻
15. COMPLAINTS & PROTESTS
1. Any formal protest concerning race results or rule violations must be submitted to the Race Director within the period announced by the Organizer.
2. Protests must be made respectfully and supported by relevant information or evidence.
3. The Race Director and designated race officials shall review and decide on protests.
4. Decisions made by the Race Director regarding safety, disqualification, and race conduct shall be considered final.
⸻

THE MUZNA TRAIL ETHOS
Muzna Ultra Trail is more than a race.
We run through mountains, forests, communities, and trails that existed long before us. We are guests in these places.
Run hard.
Respect the trail.
Respect the people.
Help your fellow runners.
Leave no trace.
The goal is not simply to finish the race.
The goal is to leave the mountain better than we found it.
