Here’s a short video explaining our direct to disc vinyl production methods or “lathe cuts”.

The things we missed out in explaining:

Vinyl is a finite medium. That means, your digital files will not sound the same on a lathe cut unless the audio was specifically mixed for vinyl or the audio is from an analog tape medium.

There is a bit more noise floor on lathe cuts, than pressed records due to the nature of the direct to disc method.

Lathe cuts are generally less loud than vinyl records. Loud lathe cuts tend to distort easily.

That being said. Lathe cuts has its own sound and is appreciated by those who understand the output. It has the potential to sound better than pressed records given the proper circumstances.

Next video will be about mastering for vinyl and why you cannot send us a file that has been mastered for vinyl by another studio.
