Have you ever seen a viral ad for a charpai, the popular traditional wooden and jute hand-woven bed? Prepare to be astounded because an advertisement for this Sindhi desi bed on an American e-commerce website is now dominating the internet.
People have seen a variety of contentious products marketed at high costs, ranging from a ‘trash bag’ fetching over Rs 3.5 lakh to a small ‘folding chair bag’ costing Rs 110,000.
These products have created a lot of debate on the internet. However, just when we thought we’d seen it all, a fresh competitor arose.
The most recent addition to this list is none other than our beloved Sindhi Khat or Sindhi desi charpai, which has been auctioned for a whopping Rs 3,54,000.
Etsy Inc., an American e-commerce company that specialises in antique things and craft supplies, has this Sindhi Khat classified as a “Traditional Sindhi bed with exquisite decorative appeal.”
The product description emphasises its handcrafted origin and shipment from a small business in Sindh, Pakistan, using materials such as wood and jute ropes.
