Urdu is not just a language, it is a culture unto itself. And Urdu Shayery— calling it even poetry sounds unjust to its beauty— is its crowning glory.

All genres of Urdu shayery, be it ghazal, nazm, masnavi, geet, even marsiya and revolutionary poetry, have a feminine voice or tone. Femininity is the core of Urdu shayery. In fact, it finds its roots in rekhti where men would write poetry in a female voice. Hazrat Amir Khusro’s evergreen geet stand as a glorious testament to this phenomenon.

Baad-e-Naubahaar, The PinkTree’s latest weddingwear offering, is an homage to this beauty called Urdu shayery. From concept to colours, embroideries to silhoettes, everything is enveloped in a poetic air. Fine blend of resham and zardozi embroideries, articulated through flowers, vines and pommegrates when adorn vibrant hues on pure silk, evoke romanticism of Jigar Muradabadi, Jaan Nisaar Akhter and Zehra Nigah.

Baad-e-Naubahar is a landmark collection in more ways than one. Besides colours and crafts employed, from jewellery to campaign, a great deal of thought and choice has gone into every component of Baad-e-Naubahar. Vaneeza Ahmed, the face that has launched a thousand covers and campaigns, is our muse for this heritage rich collection. She is the epitome of grace and femininity.

It remains the sole honour of The PinkTree Company to launch Bahishty Zaiver, Vaneeza Ahmed’s jewellery line. Inspired from rich heritage of Mughal jewellery design, thee marriage proved to be fireworks worthy.

Have a peep behind the scenes of the Baad-e-Naubahar campaign shoot! The day started with the usual rush, and Vaneeza arrived with Mohsin, kicking things off with a quick salad to fuel up for the long day ahead. As a timeless beauty, Vaneeza shared some great lifestyle tips with our designers, Simrah and Saher, who were there making sure the makeup stayed perfectly in sync with the moodboard.

Hadia and Mohsin took charge from the beginning, managing everything seamlessly – from styling to timeline coordination. They also made sure the jewelry complemented the looks, though the handcrafted bangles from Kangan Mahal were delayed a bit (courier mishap!). But no worries – they arrived just in time! And, of course, we had the amazing Anadil fly in from Dallas to join us on set, which made the day even more special.

Then we headed to a stunning heritage building in the heart of Serai Quarter, Karachi. Faheem and Shariq brought the dresses, while Reaan captured some beautiful glimpses of the location.

Laiba, our brilliant photographer, worked her magic behind the camera, capturing every moment even though one videographer was more into chilling than filming! 😂

A cute stray dog showed up on set, and we made sure to feed her, while we also enjoyed Rehman’s Biryani – the OG comfort food. Hamza from Trio Salon was there for any touch-ups, and styling was done on the go (yep, in the car!), but Hadia kept everything in line while Mohsin directed the poses effortlessly.

Meeting Vaneeza was a true highlight – her bond with Mohsin added a personal touch to the whole experience. And those sky-high heels Amal brought for her? They were a challenge to walk in, but Vaneeza handled them like a pro!

A day full of hustle, laughter, and good vibes – the perfect mix of heritage, fashion, and a little chaos. Baad-e-Naubahar came to life in the best way possible!

Khalikdina Hall

Karachi has a wealth of architectural heritage. Gems scattered all over old town— even in dilapidated, crumbling state — still mesmerised with their elegance, intricacy and grandeur. Established in 1906, Khalikdina Hall is one such glittering gem on Karachi’s architectural landscape.

After lying vacant or used for public events that were not in accordance with its history and majesty, such as a vaccination centre during Covid, finally, Khalikdina Hall gets a make over and status it deserves— a heritage cultural centre.

A joint project of the Numaish Collective, The Reading Room and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Khalikdina Hall Library is a beautiful gift to the citizens of Karachi.

Numaish Collective aims to turn various heritage sites in the city as a public space for cultural production— open-air art gallery, pubs, class rooms, playgrounds— by highlighting parts and communities of Karachi as inclusive urban retreats.

Similarly, The Reading Room’s objective is to present healthy exchanges amongst citizens belonging to different ages, genders and socioeconomic groups. Khalikdina Hall Library is The Reading Room’s urban cultural retreat.

Perfect marriage between the two groups has resulted in a win-win for all, especially Karachi.

And that’s Karachi for the world whose citizens are the real asset which is the secret of the city’s greatness.
