When we put on weight the biggest dilemma we are faced by is "Which type of dresses to wear" because what looks pretty on a dummy doesnot suit our body frames. Here is a useful post which will help u decide
Which types of dresses to wear for various body types

Which styles to avoid and which to select for which body types

1-The hour glass
Avoid shapeless or boxy styles such as baby doll dresses, tunics and oversized cardigans
Choose dresses which are very shapely at the waist, collars and zipped cardigans fit such body type the best

2-Apple/round
Avoid anything which eccentuates the waist such as pleated high waist skirt or pleated pants.
Choose styles which emphasize your shouldrs and bottom to some extent such as dresses with enbroidery on collars, shoulders or hems and jackets/cardigans/coats with prominent collars.

3-Triangle/pear (shape that is found the most in womem)
Avoid shapeless oversized sweaters and cardigans, skinny jeans and any fabric which clings to the body and emphasizes the curves
Choose a style which emphasizes the upper part of the body for example blazers, cardigans or dresses with not very straight cut and are open at the bust.

4-Rectangle
Avoid anything which does not define the waist
Choose styles which highlight your waist and make ur hips as well as shoulders looked defined. Wear button up shorts, sweaters, cardigans which are designed to give your body a sleek curvy look
