👉 Sweatpants are a casual variety of soft trousers intended for comfort or athletic purposes, although they are now worn in many different situations. In Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa they are known as tracksuit bottoms or jogging bottoms. In Australia, they are also commonly known as trackpants or tracky daks 🙂

History 👇
The first pair of sweatpants was introduced in the 1920s by Émile Camuset. He was the founder of Le Coq Sportif. The sweatpants were simple knitted gray jersey pants that allowed athletes to stretch and run comfortably ✅

Construction and design 👇
Sweatpants are usually made from cotton or polyester, often of a heavy knit. They often have elastic in the waist, and may or may not have pockets. Sweatpants are traditionally ash gray in color but are now available in most colors 🎨 They are usually quite "baggy" and loose, making them easy to put on and take off; moreover they have flexibility and comfort. In addition, this design traps less heat than most conventional, lightweight trousers, which may be a disadvantage in some conditions such as cold temperatures and an advantage in others such as body heat-increasing aerobic activities 🤸 Warmer varieties can be made from polar fleece 😊

Once these practical pants were only worn for sporting events and at home 🏠 Now, they are available in many fashionable styles and are worn in a variety of public situations. Because of their comfort and fashion, they have become a popular choice of clothing. The sweatpant variations described below are made from many different materials and in many forms 👍

Sweatpants are now part of the regular garment most streetweart brand have in their offer 🙂

Terrycloth is a fabric with loops that can absorb large amounts of water 💧 It can be manufactured in two different ways: by weaving or knitting. Terrycloth is woven on special looms that have two beams of longitudinal warp through which the filler or weft is fired laterally. The first industrial production of terrycloth towels was by the English manufacturer Christy.

There are 2⃣ types of terry fabrics 👇
✅ Towell Terry is a woven fabric with long loops that can absorb large amounts of water. Its content is usually 100% cotton, but may sometimes contain polyester 🙂
✅ French Terry is a fabric, used in men's, women's and children's clothes. One of its sides is flat, while the other side is with cross loops. It is either 100% cotton or contains polyester or elastine like lycra. It is often warp knitted, and the term French Terry is colloquially used for all warp knitted Terry.
It is the length of loops that determines how much fluid is absorbed by the cloth as longer loops provide more surface area to absorb and come in contact with the fluid.

👉 Items that may be made from terrycloth include babies’ nappies (UK English) or reusable diapers (US English), towels, bathrobes, bedlinen, and sweatbands for the wrist or head. Terrycloth is also sometimes used to make sweat jackets. Terry towelling hats with a shallow brim were once popular with cricketers (like English wicketkeeper Jack Russell) but are no longer in fashion 👍

Embroidery is the handicraft of decorating fabric or other materials with needle and thread or yarn. Embroidery may also incorporate other materials such as metal strips, pearls, beads, quills, and sequins.
Embroidery is most often used on caps, hats, coats, blankets, dress shirts, denim, stockings, and golf shirts. Embroidery is available with a wide variety of thread or yarn color.

The basic techniques or stitches on surviving examples of the earliest embroidery—chain stitch, buttonhole or blanket stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, cross stitch—remain the fundamental techniques of hand embroidery today👉

Origins🗒
Embroidery has been dated to the Warring States period (5th-3rd century BC) of ancient China. The process used to tailor, patch, mend and reinforce cloth fostered the development of sewing techniques, and the decorative possibilities of sewing led to the art of embroidery.
In a garment from Migration period Sweden, roughly 300–700 CE, the edges of bands of trimming are reinforced with running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, tailor's buttonhole stitch, and whipstitching, but it is uncertain whether this work simply reinforced the seams or should be interpreted as decorative embroidery.

The remarkable stability of basic embroidery stitches has been noted:

It is a striking fact that in the development of embroidery ... there are no changes of materials or techniques which can be felt or interpreted as advances from a primitive to a later, more refined stage. On the other hand, we often find in early works a technical accomplishment and high standard of craftsmanship rarely attained in later times👍

The most used and wearable piece of garment on the Earth. Everybody has at least a few of them in wardrobe. But do we know, how the T-shirt was born? This article will show you the beginnings of the T-shirt.

The earliest T-shirt was issued in the United States by the U.S. Navy sometime around the Spanish American War and 1913. The first T-shirt had a crew neck and short sleeves and it was meant to be worn underwear beneath the uniform. Soon it was adopted by the Army as a part of the standard issue ensemble given to recruits. It got an iconic name from its shape resembling the letter “T”. Dockworkers, farmers, miners, and construction type workers also adopted the T-shirt preferring the single jersey cotton in warmer weather conditions. The word “T-shirt” became a part of American English by the 1920s, and appeared in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

Following World War II, it became common to see veterans wearing their uniform trousers with their T-shirts as casual clothing.

T-shirt is a style of fabric shirt, named after the letter “T” shape of the body and sleeves. It is normally associated with short sleeves, a round neck line known as a “crew neck”, and no collar. If we want to make a T-shirt we need to cut out the folowing parts: front, back, two sleeves and crew neck – which is a shape of stripe. Sewing two parts together is being done with an overlock sewing machine.
Today T-shirt is 101 year old and its versions are available in many different designs and fabrics and styles.
