THE BARE BONES, FINS INCLUDED

Extra volume through the front gets you in early, the balanced rocker and soft rolled rails keep the rail-to-rail transitions smooth, and the flat-to-spiral-vee bottom carries speed through the sections where a shortboard would stall. The round pin tail is what keeps it honest — it tightens the turn radius so the glide doesn't turn into drift.

Think horizontal, not vertical. Carves, trim lines, roundhouses, the occasional floater on a closing section. 6'6" to 7'10", 39.50L to 56L.

A blank on the racks, before anyone decides what it becomes. That decision is yours: pick any model in the Base Surfboards range as the blueprint, then set length, width, thickness and volume to how you actually surf — not to whatever size happened to be in stock. Choose your fin setup, choose your spray.

Fins are part of the build: add FCSII Glass Flex or Futures Alpha fins to the cart and apply FINS26 at checkout, and they come through with the board.

The Small Talk isn't the board you save for a good swell. It's the one you reach for on a random Tuesday, because it works.

A lower rocker to open up the sweet spot, fuller rails that forgive a late reaction, and a more parallel outline for stability when the wave doesn't give you much to work with. Single-to-double concave through the tail, swallow to keep it loose off the back foot. Volume is distributed to hold you through flat sections without turning the board into a barge.

This is a step-down with performance intent, built for surfers who already know what they're doing and want a board that keeps up in everyday conditions, up to head high.
