The brand Cross Lights is known for the color combinations in the woven patterns. Research is the main part of the design creation. Rita loves photography, and on her daily walks looks for color combinations in nature and the city. From these images creates color palettes and moodboards that after on her studio explores in different combinations of threads and patterns for her creations. Stripes and tartan are the selected patterns. "I come from a family of artisans, designers and artists, immigrants and emigrants that went and come from Asia, América, Africa and Europe. Since I was born travelling has been a part of my life and the way I see the world and absorb the different cultures reflects on the way I combine colour. Since i was a kid i saw my family working with texture, colours and forms, this was always present in my life and translates now to my designs." Materials
The wools used are produced from sheep reared in biological farms and free from any mulesing treatment. Dyestuff dyeing process, non-allergenic and in compliance with the most severe ecologic standards. ICEA certified, (Institute for the Ethical and Environmental Certification), in agreement with the GOTS standard (Global Organic Textile Standards).
90% of the threads I use are 70% ORGANIC WOOL (WV) and 30% SUPERFINE ALPACA (WP). "After research I chose to work with an Italian company that produces everything locally and prides itself in being 100% sustainable. The main characteristics I was looking for in a thread was that it needed to be 100% natural fibres, high quality, soft, with an extensive range of textures and colours available for my creations."
