This month’s design piece, a crisp blue and white polka dot cotton skirt, came to life around friendship, art, and the small joys that connect us, and was inspired by my dear customer Andreea, who wore it during her visit to the David Hockney exhibition in Paris earlier this August. The full skirt carries the same sense of play and wonder as Hockney’s vibrant canvases, and is a piece to move in, to explore in, and to live in, whether you are visiting a museum, walking through a garden, or simply enjoying a late summer evening.
The design features side pockets, a fixed waistline and a concealed side zip, and is unlined. It is available in limited edition and has a base price for three possible length ranges (up to 40 cm, between 40 and 75 cm, and over 75 cm). Each piece is made individually in my atelier so that the garments fit perfectly and no returns or touch-up are necessary.
On a personal note, Hockney also marked my first trip abroad with my young son, when we visited his exhibition in Brussels, Belgium, almost 4 years ago. Seeing Andreea wear one of my designs in front of his work felt like a circle quietly closing, and art tying us together unknowingly.
