When I was a student in Leeds ,UK,in the 80's,I learned that an public houding estate built by the local Government had many residences committed su***de. My lecturer offered his explanation that part of the reasons could be due the poor design of the building. He noticed that the building generally had small window opening .Probably to save heating cost due to the wet and cold winter in Leeds.Lack of sun shine make a house very moody to the residence, especially to the public housing residence who are generally the lower income earner.
At the other end of the world, Singapore Government build public housing which are more livable .Most public housing are well ventilated because most of the them are seated on the North South axit. This is the basic doctrine of Feng Shui in theory and in reality. Throughtout the years, wind blow either from south to north and vice versa.
A home can be uncomfortable when a big beam is overhang on top of your sitting hall. In the east an overhanging big beam is a Fung Shui bad design. Such a house attract little buyer and Architects would avoid such a structure design by all means. So you can see Fung Shui is not a myth but it reflect practical feeling of comfortness.
