The Women’s Integration Network (WIN) Council is one of the grassroots bodies under the People’s Association (PA), a statutory board which is a community development agency. The WIN Council was established in 1995 as the co-ordinating body of the Women’s Executive Committees (WECs) which are composed of women volunteers or grassroots leaders based at the community centres and clubs. ne of the PA grassroots organisations which organises programmes and activities for women and their families. The Council comprises of WEC Chairmen, other office-bearers or members led by an Adviser who is a woman Member of Parliament. The current 20-member Council is led by Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Health and Manpower. Vision
Empower women to lead and contribute to the community to build a strong community network among women of all ages, social and economic profile. Programmes and Events
The Council organises many events to recognize achievements and contributions of women grassroots leaders and holds focus group discussions on national issues of concern to provide a platform for the voice of women in the community. The Council also helps needy women and children in the community through cause-based programs such as Groom-A-Child-To-Excel (GRACE) Mentorship Programme and Citi-Tsao Financial Education Programme for Women. The Council works closely with 105 WECs with over 2,400 members based at the community centres and clubs in Singapore. The WECs have interest groups such as beauty & fashion, health & fitness, parenting, which brings women with the same interests together. The objectives of the WECs are:
- Widen outreach to women of all races to build strong bonds among them
- Engage women and their families in activities and programmes that meet their needs and interests
- Create opportunities for women to participate in community and national affairs
