The TJean UBaker S1 Steam Oven has been such a great help in our allergy family!

It comes with multiple functions and my favourites are:

💧Steam: Rice rolls, salmon slices and pork rolls. This is also the function to clean the machine after oily cooking.

đŸ„© Steak: It comes with a temperature probe so thick cuts can be done to our liking without spraying the kitchen with grease.

🍟 Air-fry: Helloooo french fries!

🧁 Bake: Our gluten-free cupcakes have been turning out pretty!

Once I set the TJean Online steam oven to work, I can safely step away without having to slave over a stove. Afterwards, I throw in a few slices of lemon and set it to steam clean itself while the family eats.

If you need more reasons to get a new kitchen helper, the Shopper sale is coming up soon. 😉

We brought along the kid’s winter jacket along for this experience 😆

The girls have never been into an industrial chiller and we were not prepared for how cold it was! We were shivering while choosing our fruits but it was such a fun experience!

They had 2 sizes of boxes to select. We chose the big box, which costs only $19.90 to fill to the brim with any fruit from their buffet section. We got blackberries, cherries, strawberries and peaches. I estimate it could cost over $40 if we had bought them from the supermarkets.

Their ready-to-eat sweet pototes were sooooo nice. $2.50 per packet. I wish we bought more!

An Oral Food Challenge (OFC) is a procedure done under medical supervision to determine if a person is allergic to a specific food.

This time, we challenged egg knowing full well it will be a fail. We did it to determine Lil Sis’s tolerance and to have a baseline for Oral Immunotherapy (OIT) to improve her threshold. She was at the tail end of an eczema flare up and we discussed at length with our allergist on whether we should proceed. I made the decision to go ahead even with her facial flare up because I was very familiar with her body and her reactions towards allergens. I was confident that we could diffrentiate a flare up from an allergic reaction.

This is done under strict guidance of our allergist. Never do a food challenge to a known allergen on your own.

By the time we had our first Skin Prick Test at 2 years old, I had already figured out most of her allergies and the test validated all of my findings. I wish we had done it earlier to save me an entire year of grief.

So my advice to all new Eczema families has always been to see an allergist early and get tested as soon as possible.

It’s also important to note that eczema symptoms are delayed and don’t show up on Skin Prick Tests so you still have to rely on your own observations to figure out eczema triggers. However, Skin Prick Tests give you quick answers to an otherwise bewildering journey. In our case, eliminating allergens cleared up her skin by >60%, which was already a huge win.

I did a poll of a few hundred Eczema moms in this community.

I asked if you would like to be approached by another Eczema Mama during the early days of having an itchy baby. If so, what would you like to hear from a fellow mom who had been in the same boat?

Most of us agreed that we would be defensive or offended if we were offered advice. But we welcome empathy and acknowledgement.

Send this to a fellow Eczema Mama so we will know what to say when we meet another.

Our family has been managing Eczema skin for over 10 years.

During Eczema flares, we don’t pile on complicated skincare routines. Instead, we focus on eating healthy, resting well and using simple, effective skincare products. It’s more important to enjoy and be consistent with a comfortable skincare routine than to layer on heavy products that feel like a chore and leave you feeling sticky or annoyed.

✹Tamanu Hero Calming Gel + Jojoba Oil is a routine that my girls and I can easily fit into. It soothes, hydrates and seals in moisture under a minute. Both products absorb easily, leaving us with calm and moisturised skin.

This comes up every time I speak about depression and mental wellness in children.

“Strawberry generation”
“Kids in the past were much tougher”
“You can’t protect them from the real world forever”

But they haven’t seen the grit my Eczema kids have. My kids survive on meagre broken sleep, play and run despite open wounds, take up challenges despite living in discomfort. And the strict discipline it takes to live with multiple allergies? That is something most adults don’t have.

My kids are not weak because they understand complex emotions, feel safe enough to express them and seek help for their mental wellness.

My best tip to make a significant improvement in Eczema skin.

CHANGEđŸ‘đŸŒYOURđŸ‘đŸŒTOWELSđŸ‘đŸŒDAILY

You wouldn’t reuse a plaster for an open wound. The same therory goes behind using clean towels for sensitive, Eczema skin.

You went through the painful showers to clean your skin. Wet towels hold on to dead skin and harbour bacteria (that’s why they smell funky!). So don’t waste your effort at showering by putting the gunk back on when you towel dry. 😉

The stress of driving with Eczema kids in the backseat is something I struggle to explain to non-Eczema families.
