The Restyle, part one 🤍

Last month, we hosted an intimate evening at our store with Dahlia Mohd Amin, a stylist whose eye for unexpected pairings is one of the sharpest we know. And Dahlia showed us how the same wardrobe reads completely differently with a different eye on it.

We’re calling the series that came out of this, The Restyle. Each week, one iconic piece from our range and one styling tip from Dahlia, using something you already own to make the familiar feel new.

Starting with today’s: a tie at the waist does what a belt can’t.

It cinches, but the stripe keeps going. A single line from waist to hem reads longer, leaner than a plain belt would. And it works with something already at home.

For our ninth anniversary, I started looking through old photographs, trying to remember the milestones.

But somewhere along the way, I realised the milestones weren’t what stayed with me.

I remembered the women who came into my living room to try on clothes over tea and cookies.

The 24-hour trips to Vietnam carrying fabrics by hand.

My mum packing orders while I learned how to run Esse from another country.

Our first intern returning years later, now becoming a mother herself.

The mountain hike that inspired our first printed collection.

The made-to-order pieces we eventually had to let go.

The season when motherhood completely changed how I thought about design.

Every chapter shaped the brand you know today.

We’re turning nine—and this celebration belongs to you, too. 🤍

Over the past nine years, you have worn Esse through workdays, travels, celebrations, pregnancies, changing seasons and entirely new chapters. Your support has allowed us to keep creating, evolving and imagining what the brand could become.

So this anniversary, we wanted to celebrate in ways that look both backwards and forwards.

Nine years ago, Esse began with an idea: that clothing could be designed more thoughtfully—not only for the planet, but for the lives of the women wearing it.

Since then, we have created collections, revisited familiar silhouettes, become B Corp certified and built a physical home for our community. But the milestone that means the most is seeing Esse become part of your lives.

You have worn us to work, on holidays, through pregnancy, into motherhood, to celebrations and on the most ordinary of days.

Behind every piece is a much bigger story—of the people who made it, the team who brought it to life and the customers who gave it a place in their wardrobes.
