Toronto skyline, winter sun, quiet mornings before work, a reminder that inspiration doesn’t only come from fabric markets and fitting rooms.

Sometimes it comes from pausing, watching, absorbing.

Colours, textures, silhouettes, the way people dress for comfort in the cold… all these shape how I design for warmth and ease in the tropics.

Even when I’m not wearing a kaftan, I’m still thinking about how to make clothing feel good, not just look good.

Maybe the next collection will carry a hint of this city… we’ll see.

I had the chance to pitch , our Singapore-based brand of modern handmade kaftans, at a recent IDEAS workshop for empowering women entrepreneurs in ASEAN.

What began as a small project to create comfortable, flattering everyday wear for tropical life has grown into a movement empowering stay-at-home women to work creatively from home.

Standing on stage reminded me why I started, to prove that fashion can be both beautiful and meaningful.
