Ong Shunmugam is a contemporary womenswear label with a simple quest to craft beautiful clothes by f Ours are conceptual collections for the thoughtful dresser.

Designed and made across Asia, our atelier often reworks familiar influences, weaving traditional textile techniques, colours and silhouettes into the modern wardrobe, while deliberately disregarding stereotypes and caricatures. We employ intuition and an exacting aesthetic, and we believe that clothing should be cerebral yet wearable. Available only through our atelier, website and a tightly curated guerilla gallery, Ong Shunmugam pieces are often one-offs or produced in lean quantities.

The F3 Baju Kurung from Raya 2018.

Baju: An asymmetrical baju with an exaggerated pleat on the front in a contrast songket and brocade combination.

Sarong: A wrap sarong in Batik Cap, with an invisible zipper closure at the side.

The F1 Baju Kurung from Raya 2018.

Baju: A round neck baju that ends at the hip with elbow length sleeves and is cinched in at the waist with a tasseled belt. The baju is made from a combination of pink songket with pale blue guipure lace on a mauve crepe base, and is finished with blue fringing.

Sarong: A mermaid silhouette sarong with pleated details at the back in a floral crepe print.
