Wow. Being featured on The Peak’s Power List as one of the CEOs this year is surreal, to say the least. If you had told me years ago that I’d be on a list like this, I probably would’ve laughed it off, thinking it was too far-fetched. But here we are.
It’s moments like these that make me reflect on what success truly means. For me, it’s never been about titles or accolades. Success is waking up every day excited to do what I love—whether it’s sharing the rich stories of batik or working with incredible artisans through Galeri Tokokita. It’s about finding that sweet spot where passion meets purpose, and pouring yourself into it wholeheartedly.
We often get caught up in chasing what society deems as success. But I believe it’s time we redefine it. Success, at its core, is about being happy with what you’re doing and knowing that you’re making a difference, however small it may seem.
Thank you Zatiman and your incredible team from The Peak Singapore for having me on this list. When I first received your email, I thought it was another one of those invitations that would land us having to pay for a feature. And then my next reaction was completely emotional. On the eve of Hari Raya, you had recognised how much joy this work I do has brought me in reconnecting with what it means to be an Anak Nusantara (Child of the Region).
Thank you also to everyone who’s been part of this journey. This recognition is as much yours as it is mine. Let’s keep pushing boundaries, following our hearts, and redefining what it means to truly succeed.
With love and gratitude,
Oniatta Effendi
