❤️ Kebaya & Kain ❤️

A Valentine’s Day encounter with cloth, cut, and self.

On 14 February, and host an intimate personal styling session featuring vintage kebayas from Jogja and premium, uncut batik tulis from across the archipelago. Each piece carries time, hand, and intention - meant to be felt, understood.

And if a piece speaks to you, it may find its way home with you.
A second date (15 February) may open if the response is right - and if the kebayas allow it.

For the Exceptionally Nusantara woman.
Are you? 😍

The canting, delicate in hand, whispers ancient stories in wax upon fabric. It dances with purpose, tracing paths of tradition and imagination, where each stroke breathes life into cloth. In its embrace, the spirit of batik flourishes, weaving together the threads of heritage with the artistry of the soul.

Wow. Being featured on The Peak’s Power List as one of the CEOs this year is surreal, to say the least. If you had told me years ago that I’d be on a list like this, I probably would’ve laughed it off, thinking it was too far-fetched. But here we are.

It’s moments like these that make me reflect on what success truly means. For me, it’s never been about titles or accolades. Success is waking up every day excited to do what I love—whether it’s sharing the rich stories of batik or working with incredible artisans through Galeri Tokokita. It’s about finding that sweet spot where passion meets purpose, and pouring yourself into it wholeheartedly.

We often get caught up in chasing what society deems as success. But I believe it’s time we redefine it. Success, at its core, is about being happy with what you’re doing and knowing that you’re making a difference, however small it may seem.

Thank you Zatiman and your incredible team from The Peak Singapore for having me on this list. When I first received your email, I thought it was another one of those invitations that would land us having to pay for a feature. And then my next reaction was completely emotional. On the eve of Hari Raya, you had recognised how much joy this work I do has brought me in reconnecting with what it means to be an Anak Nusantara (Child of the Region).

Thank you also to everyone who’s been part of this journey. This recognition is as much yours as it is mine. Let’s keep pushing boundaries, following our hearts, and redefining what it means to truly succeed.

With love and gratitude,
Oniatta Effendi

Galeri Tokokita invites you to an engaging and lively talk: “The 5W & 1H of Woven Textiles: A Collector’s Edition.”

Join collectors Hafiz Rashid and Daniel Tendean for an interactive session that promises to be both enlightening and enjoyable. Dive into the fascinating world of woven textiles as they explore the What, Why, When, Where, Who, and How of these exquisite fabrics.

As part of our ongoing exhibition, “Beyond Batik: Woven Wonders of Indonesia,” featuring TORAJAMELO, this talk is a great chance to expand your knowledge and connect with fellow textile enthusiasts.

We encourage you to bring along a piece of woven cloth if you have one—it’s a wonderful opportunity to share and discuss your own textiles with others.

Often handed down within families for generations, the craft of batik is intertwined with the cultural identity of the people and, through the symbolic meanings of its colours and designs, expresses their creativity and spirituality.

How do you connect to batik?
