The purpose of ByJovie, my handmade bag shop, is to rekindle the value of handmade products in a fast-paced world. I have noticed that the prevalence of fast fashion, fast food, and fast information has led us to overlook the beauty and significance of slow, handcrafted items. In the past, artists would spend years perfecting a single piece of art, tailors would dedicate months to creating a dress

, and the process of making bread could take several days. However, in today's fast-forward lifestyle, the attention span of the new generation has diminished, making it challenging to engage in slow, deliberate activities. With this in mind, I have embarked on the journey of establishing ByJovie, a handmade brand that aims to promote a slower and more intentional way of living. I want to remind people of the importance of savoring the process, appreciating the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into each handmade bag I create. My hope is to encourage a renewed appreciation for the slower pace of life, allowing individuals to find fulfillment and joy in the simple act of creating and owning something truly unique.

Besides creating handmade bags, Jovie is now teaching beginner-friendly sewing classes in Johor Bahru!
If you have always wanted to try sewing, learn a new skill, or simply take a break from your phone and spend some time creating with your hands, this class is for you. No sewing experience is needed, and all materials will be provided.
Choose one project to complete during the 1.5-hour class:

Thank you to my dear returning customers for always coming back and supporting my handmade journey. Your support means more than words can say.

I’m also so grateful to have met such lovely neighbouring stallholders, and to every new customer who stopped by, appreciated my work, and brought a piece of Handmade by Jovie home — thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Although I fell sick again after the pop-up, I’m still deeply thankful that I get to do something I truly love.

I hope we’ll meet again soon, at another market, another pop-up, or somewhere along this handmade journey.
