NEW ARRIVALS: Pair of Elmwood Stools from Shanghai

A pair of vintage Elmwood stools from Shanghai. What makes these special is the gently rounded edges seen throughout - along the seat top, legs, and the horizontal rails around all four sides. Rather than the typical turned design seen on most similar stools, the vertical struts here are extremely fine round spokes, adding a delicate, understated quality. Dimensions: L40 x W30 x H47cm.

The table lamp on the right stool was converted from an antique wood carving, one of a kind, it’s fixed on a glass base for added weight and stability.

NEW ARRIVALS: Small Painted Shanxi Cabinet, Vintage Baskets & Small Plaques

Today’s featured piece is a rare find, a small antique cabinet from Shanxi, in a beautiful original red lacquer with subtle paintings of flowers, leaves and vines.

Surrounding it is a stunning variety of vintage bamboo baskets and lunchboxes — we received several beautiful pieces in this shipment!

We’ve also brought in a selection of small plaques carrying good meanings. Two shown here: 静心 (jìng xīn), meaning a calm and quiet mind, and 喜乐 (xǐ lè), meaning joy and happiness.

Today’s featured piece is a yellow painted sideboard from Shanxi — rich and striking in colour, with peonies and chrysanthemums painted on the doors. A true statement piece, and just as functional as it is beautiful. Dimensions: L163 x D45 x H86cm.

On top, two vintage brown pots from Hunan have been converted into table lamps. In the middle, vintage rattan baskets from Zhejiang sit alongside a gorgeous antique lunch box from Shanxi.

NEW ARRIVALS: Rustic Shanxi Chests

Our new shipment has arrived! Among the new arrivals are these two petite rustic small chests from Shanxi, in a warm and charming wood tone. Small enough to work as a low side table, or placed on top of a sideboard for extra storage.

Surrounding them are rustic Elmwood stools and benches of varying sizes, alongside two antique brown pots from Hunan. Together, these pieces have an understated, lived-in beauty that's hard to replicate.

Antique Shanxi Coffer Cabinet.

An antique coffer cabinet from Shanxi. The large drawer is beautifully carved, deep and full of graceful curves, depicting flowers and vines. Below, two fixed panels conceal a secret compartment, their carvings of clouds are equally deep and graceful.

Slim Vintage Black Fujian Console.

A slim vintage black console table from Fujian with four drawers. The highlight of this piece is the original brass hardware - large cloud-shaped plates that are decorative and designed to hold locks that secures two drawers at once, while protecting the drawer surface at the same time. Dimensions: L181 x D31 x H91cm.

Surrounding it are vintage pots from Guangxi, weathered stools from Shanxi, and table lamps converted from old pots.

Antique Tianjin Sideboard & Hand-Painted Screen.

An antique Tianjin sideboard with three drawers across the top and two smaller drawers below. The handles are set on bat-shaped plates, symbolising good fortune. The hinges and door plates have a graceful scalloped edge, curving in and out like a stylised shield, dotted with small decorative studs. Dimensions: L156 x D45 x H83cm.

Behind it stands a hand-painted screen on a gold leaf background, decorated with a bamboo design. Fully extended: L200 x H200cm.

A pair of antique Elmwood official hat chairs from Shanxi, a classic Ming-style design with slender posts and legs, and elegantly curved crest rail and armrests. The back splat features a through-carved ruyi cloud motif, while the curved spandrel below the seat is centred with a pomegranate carving — flanked by beautiful curved lines on either side — symbolising abundance and good fortune.

The footrests are well worn and bent from years of use, exhibiting a wonderful aged patina.

Vintage 2-Drawer Table from Zhejiang.

A vintage 2-drawer table from Zhejiang with a protruding top and hoof feet. The reddish brown colour carries beautiful natural variation, with a clear matte lacquer preserving the finish.

Fixed panels below the drawers conceal a small hidden compartment - a quiet, practical detail. The square brass plates on the drawers are replacements, similar in shape to the originals.

Dimensions: L97 x D40 x H88cm.
