Let’s start with something I get asked more than you’d think — are you Saashu?

No. I’m Vibhuti. Vibhuti Gupta. And before you try — yes, it’s a tongue twister, I know. Which is exactly why I gave myself a shortcut. You can call me Vi. 😄

Hi , I’m the person behind saashu.

I grew up in Fatehpur — a small town in north India where education for girls was still a distant dream for many. And I, very stubbornly, chose fashion. Not exactly the approved choice. Not even close.

But I had a mother who fought for her daughter’s right to learn. She never said it out loud — she just lived it. And watching her, I grew up understanding without being told that a woman is one of the strongest things there is. I don’t think I’ve ever made a single decision without that quietly sitting somewhere inside me.

So. Fashion it was.

I started my first brand. Had a plan. Had a vision. And then love — very inconveniently — moved me halfway across the world to a country I had never once planned to live in. I had told myself firmly, right before getting married, that I would never leave. Leaving meant stopping. And stopping was not an option.

Reader — I left.

Singapore. 12 years ago. A stranger of a city with a 3 month old in my arms. And for the next decade I built a life here — a beautiful one — but somewhere along the way quietly shelved the part of me that had known at 13.

Then COVID hit. The world went still. I went the opposite direction — restless, full of something I couldn’t sit with anymore. I realised I had been waiting. For the right time. The right plan. The right moment.

Here’s what I know now — there is no right time. There is only the moment you decide to stop waiting for it.

So I jumped. No map. No guarantee. Just a decision to back myself — the way my mother had backed me, without making a big thing of it.

2024. saashu. A leap of faith in a city I never planned to love, that has somehow become the place where the dream I had at 13 finally found its feet.

Oh — one last thing. I can talk endlessly, hold a room, discuss ideas for hours. But point a camera at me and I will suddenly find something very urgent to do elsewhere.😀

ALIGN has been one of the most personal collections I’ve designed for SAASHU so far.

My love for geometry started long before fashion ever did, and was one of my best subjects in school. From my graduation collection years ago I’ve always been drawn to structure, balance, movement, and the quiet beauty found in everyday forms.

With ALIGN, I wanted to create modern, elevated pieces that still feel effortless enough to truly live in; silhouettes designed to move with you through everyday life.

Inspired by architecture, urban movement, and geometric forms, this collection explores the balance between softness, structure, confidence and ease.

Every print was intentionally developed in-house alongside artisans, designed to feel grounding, wearable, and quietly expressive for the modern woman.
