PLUS Collaboratives

PLUS Collaboratives PLUS Collaboratives is a multi award-winning interdisciplinary group that designs, curates, and develops experiences for our clients. Design is a solution.

From curating and creating an event, researching and developing a space, and even conceptualising visual communication strategies to formulating a communications campaign, we believe in a data/research-based approach to ensure that we will always be able to deliver our clients’ brand messages. We use a 360-approach to tailor experiences to clients ranging from designing experiential productions in

the areas of audio visual lighting (AVL), project management, built supervision, to capturing moments and unique experiences through photography and videography. These services offered reveal our capabilities in AVL, photography, videography and creativity design to ensure every step is taken care of for our clients’ projects. At PLUS, we believe in providing our clients with an end-to-end one.

[Throwback]

The process behind the hypothetical Thoughtless campaign was rooted in the logic of how we introduce ourselves to a client by demonstrating exactly what works. To move beyond the standard civic formula, we proposed a visual language built on hyperbolic character archetypes that captured the specific, recurring frustrations of the daily commute. By designing each figure to embody a recognisable “3 truth,” we transformed abstract habits into a tangible cast of offenders that commuters could immediately identify.

[Throwback]

What if public behaviour campaigns stopped being so polite? The Thoughtless Bunch was our irreverent take on an LTA-style commuter campaign, created as a response to civic messaging that often softens bad behaviour until it becomes easy to ignore. Instead of asking commuters to be gracious in broad, familiar terms, the series named the habits people actually recognise on public transport by turning inconsiderate behaviour into exaggerated commuter archetypes. By using humour, discomfort, and a small dose of shame to make the message harder to dismiss, the hypothetical campaign held up a sharper mirror to everyday public behaviour.

Not every tender is meant to be won; sometimes, the greatest value lies in discovering how your studio wants to work.

When a tender to design a commuter behaviour initiative for Singapore’s public transport network appeared, we knew that we were stepping into a conversation that had been running for years. The standard industry response is usually to layer new creative assets onto existing, familiar formulas. Instead, our team felt compelled to dig into the foundations—questioning why those conventions were established in the first place, and whether they still hold meaning for today’s audience.

This approach shifted our focus from basic campaign ex*****on to deeper questions about human friction and relevance. Rather than crafting flawless, aspirational role models that commuters tune out, we explored the impact of holding up a mirror to the “thoughtless bunch”—those uncomfortably relatable habits we all witness daily. It served as a vital reminder that our role isn’t to pursue novelty for its own sake, but to examine a problem so thoroughly that we know exactly when a traditional path works, and precisely when it needs to be challenged.

While the contract didn’t land with us, and as expected, went to the incumbent, we walked away with a sharpened conviction that meaningful creative strategy demands a willingness to dismantle assumptions.

Swipe through to see the fundamental questions that outlasted the pitch.

The design of the PLUS studio responds to a complex brief: balancing technical production needs, daily team comfort and the realities of operating within a B1 industrial unit.

To make the space feel intuitive in use, we focused on smaller functional details that help it shift across different work modes. Push pins and magnetic boards support quick reviews and layout changes. Curtains allow softer, more fluid segmentation within the open volume. Table detailing ensures that key surfaces remain useful for assembly, discussion, material review and photography.

This flexibility is anchored by tunable Barrisol lighting, which can provide the clean, shadowless environment needed for professional shoots or controlled lux levels for focused design work. Together, these details create a studio that supports how PLUS creates and collaborates.

Designing for well-being meant looking closely at how the studio feels across long project cycles. We wanted the space to feel open and comfortable, while still giving the team clear shifts in mood and function. To do this, we used contrast in material colours to define different areas without building physical walls.

The tonal shift from warm timber surfaces to light grey, larger-format floor tiles creates a visual rhythm that helps the studio move between production, focused work, and rest. These material contrasts give each area its own atmosphere while keeping the overall space connected and fluid.

At the centre of the studio is a large working table designed for high utility. More than a communal surface, it supports production assembly, material review, team discussions and photography. The custom shelving behind it also doubles as a clean backdrop for shoots, allowing the studio to quickly shift into a high-function setup when needed.

To support these changes in use, we integrated lighting with adjustable lux levels. It can provide the brightness needed for professional photography, then shift into a warmer after-hours setting for office drinks and informal discussions.

Operating out of a B1 industrial unit meant working with the 60/40 rule, where 60% of the floor area must be used for industrial purposes such as storage and production, with 40% allocated for office use. Rather than treating this as a limitation, we used it to shape a more responsive studio.

Our process began with mapping how the space needed to function across different project cycles. Instead of using permanent dividers, we prioritised wider circulation paths and flexible activation zones. During heavy event production, storage and assembly areas can expand. During quieter periods, those same zones can be reduced to a minimal footprint, clearing the floor for professional photography, pin up boards or additional meeting areas.

This design agility allows the studio to reflect the changing demands of a multidisciplinary practice while still providing the team with a comfortable and intuitive space for daily work.
