Fireman's Jacket (Hikeshi-Banten)

👨🏻‍🚒 In Edo and Meiji Japan, where fires threatened the wooden city, firefighters (hikeshi) were revered as guardian angels for their courage and sacrifice. Their quilted jackets (hikeshi-banten), soaked in water for protection, appeared plain outside but concealed vivid inner designs of dragons, waves, and deities—hidden talismans of strength and hope against the flames.

Our Story

We are driven by our passion for antique, old and mid-century textiles from Japan and India, countries with a long-standing history, culture and the highest level of textile tradition passed on from generations by textile masters artisans of the highest level.

We select and utilize the best available vintage textiles to make with contemporary Asian silks and cotton, often hand-woven, garments and accessories designed by our team and tailor-made in Singapore by expert seamstresses to create one of a kind signature pieces for the modern lifestyle and discerning clientele.
