Girls have the right to education and to participate in decision making process, as a way for their rights to be respected and realize their fullest potential.
As Article 2 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child (UNCRC) stated that, "All Children have the same rights and should not be discriminated against, nobody should treat you badly, because of your appearance, your skin colour, your Gender, your language or your opinions. indeed, as pregnant girls are given back their dignity and as an organization *Children Podium Network (CPN) Sierra Leone,* we welcome the government announcement to overturn with immediate effect, the ban on them attending school. It's a victory for all those who campaigned tirelessly to make such a great change happen.
Lifting this ban fulfils the right of individual girls, it is in line with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs (Goal 4 Quality Education and Goal 5 Gender Equality) and will contribute to socio-economic development of the whole nation. It is worthy to note that such a move by government contributes to fulfilling children mission of a world where every young person's potential is fulfilled.
In my mind that, no woman or girl deserves to suffer from Sexual Violence, R**e, Discrimination, Sexual pe*******on and no matter what your status is. Our obligation is to uphold the values of our girls to ensure a Sustainable national development at all levels.
So let continue to protect, promote and uphold the right and dignity of Girls in Sierra Leone.
God bless you🙌.
