‼️Proud Moment for the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation: It is with immense joy and profound gratitude to Almighty Allah that I celebrate the successful signing out of Miss Fatmata Bayoh under the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation Student Baskit Fund for Education Empowerment. Fatmata has completed her final examination for the award of a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Human Resource Management at the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Makeni Campus Her academic journey is a remarkable testimony of resilience, hope, and the transformative impact of timely support. Four years ago, she found herself in a heartbreaking situation after the individual who had committed to sponsoring her university education withdrew that support. Having lost hope, she had already decided to abandon her studies and return to Port Loko. Fortunately, I was informed of her unfortunate circumstance, and after learning about her determination to pursue higher education despite the challenges, I made a commitment through the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation to support her university education until completion. By the grace of God, that promise has been fulfilled, and today, another young woman stands on the threshold of realizing her academic dream.

Although circumstances did not permit me to personally witness her signing-out ceremony, my heart is filled with fulfillment and happiness knowing that another young person has every reason to smile because of our collective commitment to education and youth empowerment. Fatmata Bayoh, I extend my heartfelt congratulations on this outstanding achievement and wish you every success as you prepare for your graduation ceremony and future career. Your perseverance has been inspiring, and I have no doubt that you will make meaningful contributions to society. I also express my sincere appreciation to Almighty Allah and to every individual and partner who has contributed meaningfully to the growth and development of young people through the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation. Together, we continue to prove that investing in education is one of the greatest gifts we can offer humanity.

Regards, Amb. Unisa Totti Fofanah Executive Director Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation

Nine (9) years of steadfast support, mentorship, and guidance. Amb. Umuru Bundu Wurie, you have shown genuine and remarkable commitment to the mission of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation. I can remember these words in our 1st meeting: Unisa, I was honored with the Bai Bureh title when I served as an ambassador to Germany. I still can't imagine the maximum respect shown for our hero. Meeting a young man who believes in giving back to society through his name is something special I will forever support. All I need is honesty and transparency, and then my unflinching support is more than guaranteed beyond political, religious, and tribal boundaries. Amb. Umuru Bundu Wurie serves as Board Chairman of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation, and today, we extend our deepest appreciation to a man who sees value in empowering young people. ‼️Port Loko City Council and Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation Strike Partnership on Robust Revenue Drive

By: Public Trust Media Sierra Leone

The Executive Management of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation (BBHF), a youth-led community development organization, has initiated a strategic partnership with the Port Loko City Council aimed at strengthening revenue mobilization and enhancing service delivery within Port Loko City. The high-level engagement was held on Wednesday, 29th July 2026, at the Office of the Chief Administrator and brought together the Foundation's Executive Director, Amb. Unisa Totti Fofanah and Programs Manager Abu Bakarr Dainkeh, alongside the Council's Chief Administrator, Julia T. Amara Koroma, Deputy Chief Administrator Santigie Ibrahim Kamara (popularly known as Kulaylay), and IEC Officer Amidu Kargbo. The meeting focused on defining the roles and responsibilities of both institutions while exploring practical strategies to achieve a more robust and sustainable revenue mobilization system for the municipality.

During the discussions, the Council acknowledged the persistent financial challenges confronting many local councils across Sierra Leone, including Port Loko City Council, where inadequate internally generated revenue has continued to affect the implementation of development projects and effective service delivery. Chief Administrator Julia T. Amara Koroma expressed profound appreciation to the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation for its timely intervention, describing the initiative as a thoughtful and impactful contribution toward addressing one of the Council's most pressing challenges She emphasized that the Foundation's commitment to providing human resources, while the Council offers technical guidance and supervision, represents a significant opportunity to improve revenue collection and strengthen the Council's operational capacity.

Presenting on behalf of the Foundation, Executive Director Amb. Unisa Totti Fofanah thanked the Council for its openness and confidence in the Foundation's vision. He recalled that this was not the first collaboration between the two institutions, noting that in 2020, the Foundation supported the Council's business license sensitization campaign through its annual Post-Secondary Internship Program. Drawing from his experience as a former Ward Councilor between 2018 and 2023, he stated that he fully understands the financial constraints facing local councils and the urgent need for innovative solutions. He disclosed that the Foundation has dedicated part of its 6th Cohort Post-Secondary Internship Program to supporting the Council by deploying interns to assist in revenue mobilization efforts. According to him, meaningful development requires collective responsibility, stressing that residents must actively contribute to strengthening the Council's revenue base if they expect improved public services. He reaffirmed the Foundation's commitment to partnering with the Council in advancing its service delivery agenda and promoting sustainable local development.

Speaking during the engagement, Deputy Chief Administrator Santigie Ibrahim Kamara commended Amb. Fofanah for what he described as a brilliant and experience-driven presentation. He applauded the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation for its consistent dedication to community transformation, youth empowerment, and humanitarian service across Port Loko and beyond. Similarly, IEC Officer Amidu Kargbo expressed optimism that the Foundation's involvement would significantly improve the Council's revenue mobilization drive. He praised the Foundation's leadership and members for their courage, innovation, and sustained investment in empowering young people while contributing to the socio-economic development of the municipality.

In her closing remarks, Chief Administrator Julia T. Amara Koroma proposed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the partnership between the Port Loko City Council and the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation. She explained that such an agreement would establish a clear framework for collaboration and ensure accountability as both institutions work toward achieving their shared objectives. She further assured the Foundation that the Mayor would be fully briefed on the outcomes of the meeting and the proposed next steps, expressing confidence that the partnership would serve as a model for collaborative local governance and ultimately contribute to increased revenue generation, improved service delivery, and sustainable development for the people of Port Loko City.

Women's Empowerment: it was a memorable and humbling moment yesterday as a team of young women pleasantly surprised me with a beautifully decorated cake under the ongoing skills acquisition program organized by the Women and Girls Protective Services Organization (WGPS), a women-led community-based organization in Port Loko City. During the presentation, the young women explained that the gift was in recognition of my steadfast commitment and continuous contributions to the empowerment of young people across the district and beyond. One of the most inspiring aspects of the occasion was seeing the Executive Director of WGPS, Mrs. Kadiatu Tholley, whom I had the privilege of mentoring during the early years of my professional journey. Witnessing her remarkable transformation into a passionate leader who is now empowering other women and girls is deeply fulfilling and serves as a testament to the power of mentorship and community leadership. I remain sincerely grateful for this thoughtful gesture and for the recognition of my modest contributions to humanity, societal development, and national transformation. Receiving such an unexpected gift means so much to me because it reflects the positive impact that collective efforts and genuine service can have on people's lives. Moments like these strengthen my resolve to continue building a coalition of productive, innovative, and responsible young people who can contribute meaningfully to the development of their respective communities and Sierra Leone as a whole. I reaffirm my commitment to supporting initiatives that empower women, girls, and young people, believing that investing in their potential is one of the surest pathways to sustainable community and national development.
