Two Haitian artists have decided to showcase their cultural heritage through reproduction vèvè (voodoo symbol) on hand painted Tshirts. Each one of these vèvè reprezents a Lwa (spirit). Among a hundred existing vèvè in Vodou pantheon, the most famous are Legba, the guardian of the spiritual world, Erzulie Freda, the spirit of love and beauty, Azaka, spirit of the land and fields. By this project, Vèvè Ayiti, they wish that the artistic richness of Haitian Vodou become accessible to more people and this in order to promote a positive image of Haiti.

"Beyond the visual aspect, I hope that each spectator can feel what the night evokes for us Haitians, that they can understand that these tales are not only distant stories, but reflections of our perception of the world. I hope that this exploration of the night as a source of inspiration, emotion and deep connection to the past will touch the audience, arouse their curiosity, and perhaps even invite them to question their own myths and beliefs."

This artwork has been featured in the contribution by Shneider Léon Hilaire titled, 'Haitian Nights,' which is part of our latest issue "The Night" (January–February 2025).
