Ekata Here at ekata we uphold the true purpose of yoga. ekata | pronounced ‘ay-ka’ta’ |
a 3,000 year-old Sanskrit word meaning ‘unity’ or ‘oneness’.

We partner with artisans around the world to create sustainable yoga finery that celebrates indigenous culture, champions native communities, and is just as soft on the planet as it is on your skin. That is, to connect with what’s important: the planet, other human beings, and ourselves. It’s in our name, our products, and our company’s structure as a true social enterprise. We partner with artisa

ns around the world to create sustainable yoga finery that celebrates indigenous culture, champions their communities, and is just as soft on the planet as it is on your skin. Ultra-soft and eco-friendly, our activewear is constructed from the grade A recycled materials, keeping plastic in a closed consumer loop and out of our glorious oceans. But what truly sets our pieces apart is the original, indigenous artwork that decorates them. Each print is created by an artisan designer from one of the communities we serve, before being digitized and printed onto our luxurious, performance fabric. Stitched, painted, and woven by hand, the original textile is made using traditional techniques and encapsulates the wisdom of its creator and her community. From the symbolism and intentions held within, all the way back to the ancient techniques passed down through the generations, each design expresses a unique interpretation of what it means to be human. At ekata, we extend this connection to you, along with the collective of artisans we partner with. Our community tells a story about the diversity and creativity of human life. Together we can weave unity, respect, and higher consciousness into the fabric of the next human chapter.

R E S O N A N C E

much like tuning forks, we humans can’t help but align with the vibrations (aka ‘vibes’, baby!) that surround us. we subtly attune to everything we come in contact with; namely the food we eat, the energy of companions and strangers, and the clothes we wear.

our guiding mission is to offer yoga apparel created in complete harmony with the philosophy of yoga, to fully support your practice on and - most importantly - off the mat.

ekata is a true social enterprise. we share 50% of all profits from each collection with an organization (NGO, education program, or career training) working directly with the cultural community whose artwork is featured.

our prints begin as handmade textiles, crafted specifically for ekata by an artisan partner, master of her culture’s textile tradition. in our design partnerships it is always the artist who names the price. we then offer a 2x-3x multiplier for the artisan’s individual contribution to the brand.

ekata’s yoga finery (our cute term for high-performance leggings and bra sets) is made only with recycled and natural materials. we’re constantly on the lookout for fabrics and processes of the highest quality and lowest impact.

How gorgeous is this silver Hmong waistchain?! It’s our favorite find e v e r from our local hill tribe market in Chiang Mai.

A lovely Hmong family runs a tiny and lively, little shop there and we’ll soon be partnering with them to offer this dazzling belt on our site! Much of the jewelry you usually find in markets is made from cheap, paper-thin metals and fades with wear. This family’s stall is the exception to the rule - they emphasize high-quality, substantial pieces that endure.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Movement is the perfect compliment to this stainless steel belt. The tassels are three-dimensional and they sway and chime with every step and shimmy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stay tuned for updates to our website! We’re adding a Market where you can shop curated and handmade goods that directly support indigenous artisans and communities in northern Thailand 🌞

Ca-caw! Our first round of samples just landed at the ekata nest, which means you'll be getting your first peek this week! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We're debuting 4 styles and 3 prints from our first ever collection, co-created with the Green Hmong tribe of Doi Pui, Thailand! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All ekata prints begin as handmade textiles, designed by our indigenous artisan partners using traditional techniques such as batik, embroidery, and/or weaving. We give 50% of the profits from each collection to an organization working in direct support of the community whose artwork we feature. Plus, our styles are made from super soft, eco-friendly materials using earth-loving practices.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Check out our stories in the coming days to see our Hmong yoga finery, a couple cute asanas, and lush vibes from tropical Thailand ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And in case you've just joined us here, we'd love to introduce ourselves and our philosophy 🌞 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We're a budding social enterprise striving to manifest the highest good for the planet, ourselves, and our fellow human beings. We know yoga to be a medium for profound transformation, which - as we can all feel - the world needs now. The power of the practice is intensified and multiplied when we take it with us off the mat and integrate it into our daily lives, moving always towards full alignment - in asana and in life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That's why we set out to build a social enterprise with the aim of empowering yogis to do just that. Where most activewear brands cater solely to s*x appeal and high performance, our goal is to fulfill these admittedly self-centric desires while genuinely giving back to the planet and other human beings in a big way. On top of that, the patterns that decorate each piece are sourced from ancient tradition and wisdom, making ekata pieces intention-magnifying talismans every bit as powerful as they are beautiful.

Merry almost-Christmas and happy nearly-New Year, sunbeams! 🌞 This time of year often finds us cozying up with a journal and reflecting on the past 12 months and the next dozen to come. It's an incredibly powerful time to quiet down and tune in to the Universe within.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In the photo above, the lovely Sung Thi Pa of the Hmong tribe in Lung Tam, Ha Giang, Vietnam begins the batik process by artfully streaming wax onto fabric. Hmong artisans throughout the hills of SE Asia use this same process to record their stories and emblazon their intentions for the new year onto clothing made from scratch for themselves and their loved ones. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Introducing 'Lub Hom Phiaj', one of the 4 prints that make up our Hmong collection! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
'Lub hom phiaj' is a Hmong phrase meaning "intention" or "goal". The name honors the Hmong tradition of inscribing hopes and intentions on clothing made specially for the New Year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This print originated in the masterful hands of Pii Plaa (look out for some behind the scenes footage in our highlights 😊️) from wax, natural indigo, and Thai silk. We then digitized her handiwork, taking extra care to preserve her exact brush strokes and even the texture of the fabric. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The final product you see pictured is a print of Pii Plaa's original artwork, reproduced on high-performance, ultra-soft fabric made from recycled plastic. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you order and receive the Lub Hom Phiaj bra or legging, light a candle, close your eyes and hold the clothing in your hands, breathing your own intentions into its folds.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let it serve as a talisman in your yoga practice on and off the mat, a powerful reminder of and connection to that which you seek. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We donate 50% of the profits from our Hmong collection to organizations working directly with Hmong communities across South East Asia. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We're SO excited to share this with you! An enormous amount of love goes into everything we put out into the world, please help us by tagging and sharing with your favorite yogis 🌞🌼😊️ Thank you for all of your support and for being a part of our little community. 💛⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
