Simply dubbed "The Rock," there's nothing simple about the 228.31 carat record-setting stunner up for auction in May. Graded G, VS1 by GIA, it is the largest colorless diamond to appear at auction and the largest existing D-to-Z color pear-shaped diamond ever graded by GIA with a $20,000,000 - $30,000,000 estimated price.
For a diamond of such great proportions, this clarity designation is quite impressive. The very slight inclusions within the 228.31 ct Pear Brilliant are virtually invisible to the human eye, and may only be observed under magnification. Such faint features may be thought of as 'birthmarks,' as they can provide valuable insight into a diamond's origin and confirmation of natural formation. Those subtle distinctions are more likely to add to a diamond's individuality than detract from its overall appearance.
Its high carat weight scores it an enviable position among some of the most exceptional diamonds in history. Complemented by the hands of a skilled cutter, the diamond, with its polish and symmetry, comes to life in a display of brilliance.
