There's a story that repeats in this city: a driver recommends a tailor, full payment is taken up front, and afterwards the shop is somehow difficult to find again.

So here is exactly where we are, and we have not moved since 1999.

The most common complaint about tailoring in this city isn't the price. It's being shown one fabric and handed back another.

So here is ours, unretouched and uncropped: a mid-blue worsted, the twill running diagonally across the frame, a peak lapel, and a full paisley lining that was chosen rather than defaulted to.

When you visit any tailor in Bangkok, ask three questions. Ask to see the bolt your cloth is cut from. Ask for the mill. Ask the yarn count. A tailor who will not show you the cloth is telling you something about the cloth.
