My mantra for this phase of parenting: “I’ll miss this when I’m 80.”
It’s hard to be present with my kids when I’m running a mile a minute, all the time. “I’ll miss this when I’m 80” is my reminder that they are growing up way too fast, and that even the chaotic moments deserve a pause, because I will miss this exact moment someday.
And in this crazy phase of parenting little kids, there’s nothing like the camaraderie of other moms. We give so much of ourselves to our families. And we do so many things that go unseen and unappreciated. Which is why we have each other—we see each other, we support each other, we carry on conversations while our kids yell, “Mama Mama Mama HEY MAMA WATCH THIS,” in the background.
Thank you, moms, for your friendship. Someday, we’ll actually sit down and carry on an uninterrupted conversation. And we’ll talk about how we miss those interruptions. Happy Mother’s Day.
