CHECKMATE ♟️
Oil on canvas, 120 × 180 cm
From my 64 Series
This piece was a pivot for me a deliberate step away from my usual reds and blues, and into a brownish, earth-led palette I’d never fully trusted before. I wanted the color to feel like silence with weight.
A woman, composed and unshaken, holds the tension of a game that’s already decided. The board is everywhere: in the garment, in the air, in the outcome. The pieces don’t shout they hover, like thoughts you can’t unthink.
Checkmate isn’t only about winning.
It’s about knowing.
And choosing stillness anyway.
